If this is going to be fully automated, just be sure that:

  • if the article has even one category missing the sort key then don't add defaultsort
  • if the article already has one or more defaultsorts (in template or magic word form) don't add it

:In the second point, do you mean {{tl|DEFAULTSORT}} and {{DEFAULTSORT:}}? Of course, when bot finds an article with DEFAULTSORT string, skips it, this includes magic word and template. And only adds {{DEFAULTSORT:}} when it has found all categories with the same sorting, moreover if there is a category with spacing sort or Category:William Shakespeare with null sort, skips.--Emijrp 18:50, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
