Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/BetacommandBot Task 5

This request was [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:Bots/Approvals_group&oldid=205333093#BAG_as_.27arbcom_for_bots.27 modified] by the bot approvals group as follows:

:Betacommand is instructed to modify the notification tags used by the image portion of BetacommandBot to fit with the 'friendlier' versions used by OrphanBot or STBotI.

Suggested templates are User:OrphanBot/nfcc10c, User:OrphanBot/nosource, User:OrphanBot/norat, and User:OrphanBot/nocopyright. These modifications are effective immediately, however Betacommand is granted a reasonable amount of time to modify the bot to comply with this modification to approval. --uǝʌǝsʎʇɹoɟʇs(st47) 14:49, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

BetacommandBot Task 5

I would like approval for tagging images without fair use rationale's (pages that are basically just templates). Ive been using a simi-auto tool now for a while and I have discovered a pattern that a lot of fair use images are just templates without a valid rationale. I would like approval for tagging them as either {{tl|nrd}} or {{tl|dfu}}. ill be working off all transclusions of {{tl|non-free media}} Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 04:43, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

This would be most useful. 90% to 95% of fair use images I come across have no fair use rationale written for them, because there are presently no consequences for not providing a rationale, beyond the slight chance that a copyright-knowledgeable admin will come along and delete it. I manually removed about 10 fair use images from articles that did not have rationales provided, and instead of thanks, I got told I wasn't being useful and should get writing the rationales myself. The culture/practice needs to change, and having a bot do this automatically would be a good starting point. - Mark 05:43, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
