{{Newbot|Jerodlycett-autobot|}}

Operator: {{botop|Jerodlycett}}

Time filed: 06:55, Saturday, August 29, 2015 (UTC)

Automatic, Supervised, or Manual: Automatic

Programming language(s): AutoWikiBrowser

Source code available: AWB

Function overview: Replace dates and update {{tl|Use mdy dates}} or {{tl|Use dmy dates}} as appropriate.

Links to relevant discussions (where appropriate): :Category:Use mdy dates and :Category:Use dmy dates both talk about a theoretical bot. This is it.

Edit period(s): Monthly

Estimated number of pages affected: Currently 566,009 and likely rising.

Exclusion compliant (Yes/No): Yes (according to the documentation)

Already has a bot flag (Yes/No): No

Function details: I can even post the regex used in AWB. It just replaces dmy/mdy and ISO dates to the correct dates, and updates the date of the templates. Three tests I did:

  1. {{Diff|Tang dynasty|prev|678406542|Tang dynasty|diffonly=yes}}
  2. {{Diff|Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad|prev|678408851|Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad|diffonly=yes}}
  3. {{Diff|Robert D. Webb|prev|678409031|Robert D. Webb|diffonly=yes}}

The bot won't do any other corrections, only the updates.

It needs broader discussion before any trial. Try somewhere in the village pump to get some opinions first. -- Magioladitis (talk) 16:35, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
