Automatic, Supervised, or Manual: Automatic
Programming language(s): AutoWikiBrowser
Source code available: No; using AWB "Prepend"
Function overview: Add CFD notices to 2000 categories
Links to relevant discussions (where appropriate): Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/Tasks#CfD template
Edit period(s): One time run
Estimated number of pages affected: 2000
Exclusion compliant (Yes/No): Yes
Already has a bot flag (Yes/No): Yes
Function details: Use AWB "Prepend" to add a CFD notice to 2000 categories. This is too many to do manually. The downside of doing it from a bot account is that someone might be watching the categories but have "Hide bot edits" ticked, and miss the notification. Still, this will get the job done.

- Support. I've had to do this a few times for WP:TFD and it ticks all the deletion criteria but makes it a lot easier to do. Primefac (talk) 16:50, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
- {{ping|Tim!}} I see you are the creator of many of these - the real question is: Is this actually really needed? Will the CfD actually not be discussed and processed if these thousands of tags are skipped? — xaosflux Talk 01:59, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
- : Personally I am not concerned but what might be a more useful exercise would be to leave a talk page notice on creators of the more recent years and some of the later subcategories eg {{cl|January 2017 sports events}}. I did not create any of those and they appear to have a diverse number of creators. Also see User:KConWiki/Events by month which has a list of the categories after 1800 mostly created by others. Tim! - :{{ping|John of Reading}} I don't do a lot of CfD maintenance, but isn't the standard practice to notify the creators as well? Is there a very large number of creators? — xaosflux Talk 14:27, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
- ::{{re|Xaosflux}} Yes, it is, though User:Marcocapelle didn't ask for help with that. I've just spot-checked about 50 of the histories in the list to be tagged; most of those were created by User:Tim!, a few by User:IgnorantArmies (now blocked), and a few by User:J 1982. I don't have an easy way to check the 2000 categories systematically to find any other creators. -- John of Reading (talk) 14:46, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
:{{BotDenied}} {{ping|John of Reading}}, {{ping|Marcocapelle}}: While there are no technical issues with this request it does not appear to be necessary. I placed an administrator note on Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2017_May_26#Category:February_1010_events waiving the individual tagging requirement. Notices to related parent categories and a WikiProject were sent in lieu. — xaosflux Talk 15:15, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
:* Okay thanks! Marcocapelle (talk) 15:59, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
