Polbot 06

[[User:Polbot|Polbot]]

{{Newbot|Polbot|6}}

Operator: Quadell

Automatic or Manually Assisted: Automatic, supervised

Programming Language(s): Perl with Perlwikipedia

Function Summary: Create new articles on species, using [http://www.iucnredlist.org/ IUCN Redlist] for data.

Edit period(s) (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): In small batches.

Edit rate requested: 6 edits per minute

Already has a bot flag (Y/N): Yes.

Function Details: I will manually find species names that do not have articles, and I will list them here. Polbot will read this list and look up the names at [http://www.iucnredlist.org/ the IUCN Redlist]. If the species name isn't found, Polbot skips it and goes to the next one. But if it's found, she reads the information, processes it, and spits it out as a new article. Examples: Balantiopteryx infusca, Kinosternon angustipons, and Eophona migratoria. (Polbot also made the redirects Ecuadorian Sac-Winged Bat, Narrow-Bridged Mud Turtle, and Yellow-Billed Grosbeak.) If there are pictures on Wikimedia Commons for the species, Polbot links to this too.
