:Nominator's rationale: Only one article, already in :Category:Dutch geographers. Flemish is ambiguous - this is a 17th century person. Rathfelder (talk) 10:43, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

• Support, the only article in this category is about someone emigrating to the Dutch Republic at the age of 3. Marcocapelle (talk) 11:02, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
• Oppose. The category was underpopulated. Thanks for noticing! Fixed. Nomination can be withdrawn. With more than 5 articles and 1 (also well-populated) subcategory, this is certainly not a WP:SMALLCAT! gidonb (talk) 14:22, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

:* The category has now become a hodgepodge of people from the Southern Netherlands and ethnic Flemish people from modern-day Belgium (while this occupation is unrelated to ethnicity). • Delete per nom or alt merge to :Category:Belgian geographers. Use of the word Flemish is highly ambiguous and dependent on the period considered, and also loaded in regards to the Flemish ethnicity. This results in mixing too different things. Place Clichy (talk) 00:29, 17 July 2021 (UTC)

• Oppose. Mercator, Ortelius and others are routinely described as Flemish: actually, these two are often described as the most important of the 16th and 17th century Flemish School of Cartography[https://www.google.be/search?tbm=bks&hl=en&q=%22Flemish+school+of+cartography%22]. • Then suggest a rename to a less ambiguous name (e.g. including a date range), don't delete it. I don't see the need for a rename either, but at least that would preserve the actual, common, grouping as used by knowledgeable authors and institutions. Fram (talk) 16:23, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
• Keep - Doesn't appear to be a single member cat anymore. And looking at :Category:Flemish people by occupation, are all of these ambiguous too? I dunno, but for now, might as well keep this one along with the rest. - jc37 15:36, 1 August 2021 (UTC)

:Nominator's rationale: Eponymous category for a person, without the volume of spinoff content needed to warrant an eponymous category. As always, a person does not automatically get one of these the moment he has a BLP and a "Books by X" category -- these are only warranted if there's an unusually large volume of related content that needs person-related categorization but falls outside any established category scheme, such as at {{cl|William Shakespeare}}.
