:Nominator's rationale: Consistent with plural rendering in related articles (e.g. List of first ladies of the United States and Second ladies and gentlemen of the United States), and conforms to MOS:JOBTITLES. Obviously there are many more first/second ladies/gentlemen categories out there, but I wanted to verify consensus for these ones first, then nominate the rest for speedy rename afterwards. • Support. The parent hierarchy is just "Moscow" but I agree that some additional clarification is desirable for these categories, and I can't think of a better wording. – Fayenatic London 11:36, 23 December 2022 (UTC)

• I'd oppose both those renames because all other countries use "Mayors by Bar in Foo" (e.g., {{cl|Mayors by city in Canada‎}}). Grutness...wha? 14:38, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
• FURTHER COMMENT: I notice the same "City=City or town" problem with several of the other by country parents (e.g., {{cl|Mayors by city in Australia}} is actually by city or town). Perhaps the whole tree needs a bit of a shake? Grutness...wha? 14:38, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
• Weak oppose, I do not have the impression that the NZ tree deliberately deviates from other countries. E.g. in :Category:New Zealand people by occupation and city half of the subcats is "by city". Marcocapelle (talk) 20:51, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
• This is a bit of a tricky one. It's true that some of the contents here are towns rather than cities, but that isn't a uniquely New Zealand problem as it's also true of a lot of sibling categories in {{cl|Mayors by city and country}}. To be fair, it's less likely that mayors of towns would be notable enough to warrant a dedicated "Mayors of [Specific Place]" for them than mayors of cities are, but it's not impossible, so some categories do actually exist for towns in more than just New Zealand. So I'm not opposed to this in principle, but in actual practice we should consider all of the categories in {{cl|Mayors by city and country}} rather than just this one alone.
