Individual surname articles are randomly categorized into one, the other, or sometimes both. The merge would be consistent with :Category:Irish surnames being a cat.-redirect to :Category:Surnames of Irish origin. :Nominator's rationale: It's unclear what "animal abilities" even means in this context, making this a WP:SUBJECTIVECAT. In its current form, it is confusing. :::There is no firm definition of what an "animalistic ability" is, making it subjective. While plant abilities are pretty clear-cut, humans are capable of things that may be described as "animalistic" but are not necessarily related to animals. For example, one could say a character who flies using a jetpack is "bird-like" but may be unrelated to birds. This is why I think such a category is totally untenable.

:I also support your suggestion regarding animal-themed characters; we can create :Category:Animal-themed superheroes and :Category:Animal-themed supervillains. Though the scope of these categories would be rather broad, as Batman and Spider-Man are both technically animal-themed heroes, but Batman doesn't actually have literal animal powers.
