:Nominator's rationale: The intended purpose of the category seems to be "places relevant to the history of the Assyrians", assuming Assyrian continuity. However, the name of the category seems to incorrectly suggest that Assyrian geography is separate from non-Assyrian geography. A similar category does not exist regarding any other ethnic group that I can find (for example, Kurdish geography and Armenian geography don't exist but instead have Geography of Kurdistan and Geography of Armenia). Therefore, I think this category should be purged of modern content and re-focused to be about the geography of the Assyrian empire. I don't believe recategorization will be necessary because all the items for which Assyrian is defining will already be in relevant categories (such as all the diocese articles). • Keep There are already 31 different categories by U.S. state in :Category:20th-century mayors of populated places in the United States. By merging the categories, as requested in the nomination, all categories for all mayors anywhere in the globe would be lumped together in one worldwide category by century. Mayors in the United States would be jumbled together with mayors from Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Uganda, once those categories are created. This is a layer that is anything but redundant and would be extremely helpful for navigation. What am I missing here that the encyclopedia and its readers are better off having all categories for all mayors on Earth thrown together into a single parent category for every hundred-year period?
