But the whole point of a space-filling 3D model is to illustrate the actual physical form (rather than shorthand notation of the bonds), and the H are an important part of the real object (take up space and alter the 3D surfaces). Already tagged as The image shows geminal bromine substitution rather than the vicinal substitution the is present in brominated vegetable oil. It also depicts a fatty acid, but vegetable oils are mostly glycerides. This is not an oil - it will be a solid. Seventeen carbons is unusual - I would suspect 14 / 16 / 18 / 20 to be natural - and the bromines more than likely to be 2 and on C9/C10. Ronhjones ^(Talk) 22:14, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
