Wikipedia:Inactive administrators#January 2025

Following a community discussion in June 2011, administrator accounts that have neither edits nor log actions for at least one year are subject to procedural removal of administrator permissions for inactivity, and following a 2022 community discussion, starting from 1 January 2023, administrator accounts that have made fewer than 100 edits in the last 5 years are also subject to this policy.

This page is used for coordination, to ensure that the requirements are met prior to administrator permissions being removed.

Criteria

  • Wikipedia:Administrators#Procedural removal for inactive administrators
  • Criterion 1: no edits (deleted or otherwise) or log actions for one year
  • user talk notification one month prior
  • user talk notification several days prior
  • Criterion 2: fewer than 100 edits (deleted or otherwise) for 5 years
  • user talk notification 3 months prior
  • user talk notification 1 month prior
  • make it clear that the removal is procedural
  • Wikipedia:Bureaucrats#Removal of permissions
  • link relevant policy when removing privileges
  • include permanent link to monthly section below
  • notify user of removal of permissions

Text of notifications

The text of the notifications sent to users has been standardized at {{tl|inactive admin}} and {{tl|inactive admin 2}}. At the present time, notifications are placed on talk pages by {{u|JJMC89 bot}}.
