• Apparently taken from [http://www.state.nj.us/dep/parksandforests/virtual_tours/washington_crossing_photo_gallery.html], which says at the bottom, "Copyright © State of New Jersey, 1996-2004". The site's [http://www.nj.gov/nj/legal.html legal statement] says, "The State of New Jersey has made the content of these pages available to the public and anyone may view, copy or distribute State information found here without obligation to the State, unless otherwise stated on particular material or information to which a restriction on free use may apply. However, the State makes no warranty that materials contained herein are free of Copyright or Trademark claims or other restrictions or limitations on free use or display. Making a copy of such material may be subject to the copyright of trademark laws." It is not perfectly clear to me that this means the images are in the public domain, especially since the image gallery has a copyright notice at the bottom. Note that :File:Washington crossing4.jpg, apparently taken from the same site, is tagged with {{Non-free USStateGov|NJ}}, which says, "This work is copyrighted by the State of New Jersey. Materials may be used only for personal or non-commercial use providing all copyright and other proprietary notices are kept intact. Modification of the materials or use of the materials for any other purpose is a violation of the State of New Jersey's copyright and other proprietary rights." Whatever the situation is, it seems to me that the two images :File:Washington's Crossing reenactment.jpg and :File:Washington crossing4.jpg should be licensed identically. —Bkell (talk) 00:26, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

The result of the discussion was: Deleted. After more investigation, uploader is claiming copyright to three different animated gifs which appear to originate from different places and are listed as being created by different people. It is increasingly unlikely that the uploader is the copyright holder. Also, please see the variety of other image upload problems which seem to fit the pattern.
