The first is a rather odd per WP:ARTICLETITLE and I think unnecesary. The second is made by our friend User:Eubot from it. I think both go delete as clutter. I know others will have other opionions on these, hence listing. (Certainly, the eubot one is not a {{tlx|R from title without diacritics}}. Perhaps call, although I call him yesterday and I don't want to overwhelm him, perhaps call User:Plantdrew on this one. I can well understand it may be called "Ñandubay", although it isn't at the target (we can add that for sure, but expert Plantdrew is better at this than me, he has more books and references for it than I do. I just have Haynes Manuals). What it certainly isn't called is "NAnadubay". Si Trew (talk) 06:38, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
- Delete, unlikely bot creations. —Kusma (t·c) 06:42, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
(ec) My WP:BEFORE just sends me back to Wikipedia except for a hotel in Brazil called "El..." these were created from' the ones without diacritics. Wait for the expert. I can't find in my limited reference this plant was ever called this, but User:Plantdrew will give a definitive answer on this one. Si Trew (talk) 06:45, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
:::Hahaha actually out of sheer coincidence User:Plantdrew edited the target on 17 April, with {{tlx|diff|715634358|oldid=637429318}}. Changed the lede to edit the lede but kept the name "nandubay". That is pure coincidence I am not pointing fingers, Plantdrew is brilliant at botanical stuff. But I think this does make these a bit WP:RFD#D5 if they weren't already. Shame there is not a WP:COMMONNAME in the infobox. Si Trew (talk) 06:50, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
- Reproducing here the second sentence from the target: "Common names include algarrobillo, espinillo, ibopé-morotí, and ñandubay." (emphasis in original) The nominator claims to have done WP:BEFORE which leaves me baffled as to how they missed this, but instead went on an adventure through Google and rambling about the interests and expertise of other users, eventually landing at the utterly confusing "it isn't at the target". It is at the target, in the second goddamn sentence and in bold.
:Nonetheless, delete, the capitalization of the second letter is odd and unnecessary. Redirects not apparently in use. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 13:32, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
- Delete There are probably hundreds of these. Polbot created thousands of articles on IUCN redlisted species along with redirects from common names (the common names were listed at IUCN). Problem is, Polbot couldn't handle common names with diacritics, and made a bunch of miscapitalized redirects when diacritics were present. Eubot then came along and made more variants based on Polbot's miscapitalization. The other issue is that IUCN had many non-English common names listed as being English; many of them have since been moved to the appropriate language, and as part of that process the number of common names was reduced to one per language. I have no doubt that (based on similar cases) "ñandubay" was previously listed as a common name at IUCN, but there's no reason to keep redirects with screwed up capitalization.
