:The result of the discussion was delete
. The motion to delete this redirect due to "Diane DiPiazza" or "Diane DiPiazza" not being mentioned in the redirect target was unanimously adopted by all participants. Concerns were raised by {{noping|Nyttend}} that the redirects could not be deleted due to attribution ("legal") reasons, but those concerns were retracted after the discovery of Talk:Misfits_(band)/Archive_1#Merger of Diane DiPiazza, which notes that no content was ultimately merged from these redirects. Based on this and the overall consensus, I have gone ahead and closed this as "delete". TheSandDoctor Talk 08:27, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

Bringing from the Help Desk. "Currently this wikilink redirects to Misfits (band), even though DiPiaza was never part of the band. I blanked the page a while back, but someone reverted me [5]. What's the best way to resolve this? Thanks! David O. Johnson (talk) 07:12, 5 November 2018 (UTC)" Legacypac (talk) 07:20, 5 November 2018 (UTC)
- Comment. Diane DiPiazza with double zz was merged to Misfits (band) at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Diane DiPiazza. The last article version was [//en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Diane_DiPiazza&oldid=489945907]. Misfits (band) mentioned her as a former member at the time [//en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Misfits_(band)&oldid=493361920]: "Naming the band after actress Marilyn Monroe's final film The Misfits (1961), Danzig recruited guitarist Jimmy Battle, bassist Diane DiPiazza, and drummer Manny Martínez to fill out the lineup while Danzig himself sang and played the electric piano. Both Battle and DiPiazza left the band after a month of practices." The Google search {{Google|"Diane DiPiazza" Misfits}} finds many similar claims but they might have been copied from false claims. She was removed from the article in [//en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Misfits_(band)&diff=726751329&oldid=726120134] after Talk:Misfits (band)#First Lineup. - Further comment The "DiPiazza" page must not be deleted, because the merge history means that it has attribution that must be retained for copyright purposes; see WP:MAD. If desired, the page could be moved somewhere else, e.g. Talk:Misfits (band)/old history. I'm not clear whether the "DiPiaza" redirect's original content were merged or simply removed, but either way, the creator, Squeaky2, also edited "DiPiazza", so sufficient attribution is present with that one alone. This means that there is no copyright/attribution reason that "DiPiaza" must be retained at all. Nyttend (talk) 13:53, 5 November 2018 (UTC)
:*See my comment below — nothing was merged after all, so there's no need to retain either page for copyright reasons. Nyttend (talk) 23:57, 5 November 2018 (UTC)

for the same reason, so the issue raised by Nyttend can be dealt with at the same time. UnitedStatesian (talk) 17:13, 5 November 2018 (UTC)
- Question What do you want to be done with it? Deletion is absolutely not an option, so please explain what you'd like to see. Is my suggestion, Talk:Misfits (band)/old history, something workable in your mind? Nyttend backup (talk) 18:55, 5 November 2018 (UTC)
- Delete both since DiPiaz(z)a is not mentioned at the target. Attribution is no longer necessary since nothing that was merged remains at the target. -- Tavix (talk) 19:12, 5 November 2018 (UTC)
- Delete both - Saw this discussed at the help desk. I found what looks like a fairly reliable source saying that Diane DiPiazza was briefly in the Misfits, even though she isn't included in the article. https://techaeris.com/2016/05/12/original-misfits-members-reunite-riotfest-denver-chicago/ So that's issue number one. The issue at hand - does a brief tenure with a band, yet no notability otherwise - warrant a redirect to the band's article? I think not. People searching for her are not going to get any satisfaction being redirected. If she's at least mentioned in the article in the former member section, with the source I found, the band's article will come up when people search for her by name in the search box. That's more than enough. So I support the deletion of both redirects. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 19:27, 5 November 2018 (UTC)
:Tim and Tavix, deletion is not an option for legal reasons; deletion would break the attribution history for merged content. If no argument for doing something else is advanced, I will speedy close this proposal, because it's unintentionally attempting to create a copyright infringement. Nyttend (talk) 19:31, 5 November 2018 (UTC)
::I disagree with your assessment. There is no merged content at the target, so there is no attribution required. -- Tavix (talk) 19:34, 5 November 2018 (UTC)
:::My apology; I just discovered Talk:Misfits_(band)/Archive_1#Merger of Diane DiPiazza to this article, which notes that no content was merged. Nyttend (talk) 19:45, 5 November 2018 (UTC)
- Delete both. Neither is mentioned in the target or any other article, with the exception of Lodi High School (New Jersey), which contains a an unsourced mention that is not a viable target. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 17:52, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
- Delete both since I only posted the nomination over from the help desk as a housekeeping matter, I'll vote based on the findings that nothing was merged and there is no good reason to talk about the subject at the target. Legacypac (talk) 18:03, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
