Cite legislation (generic) request

Hi I'd like to create a new cite template pls. I tried figuring out how to do it but then I came across this page.

=Background=

There are cite legislation templates for Australia (but this contains a special link to Auslii) and there's a cite leg template for the UK but no generic one and this is something I need often or I've found is generally lacking (e.g. see the Norman Manley page that I was editing earlier that cites two Jamaican statutes).

=Ask=

What I'm looking for is very basic and not complicated. It would work for legislation in most common law jurisdictions (incl Australia and the UK).

Common law legislation is usually cited as follows:

  • Title including year (jurisdiction), eg. Freedom of Information Act 1980 (UK)
  • Title including year (jurisdiction), provision type, provision number, eg. Freedom of Information Act 1980 (NSW), s 25(1)

I'd also like to include a url link.

Could someone please create a basic simple template. It might be called "Cite legislation (generic common law)" or similar.

{{cite leg

|title=

|jurisdiction=

|provision type=

|provision number=

|url=

|access-date=}}

Notes:

  • Title should be rendered in italics
  • Jurisdiction should appear in parenthesis immediately after the title
  • Title and jurisdiction should be followed by a comma and then followed by the provision (type and) number.
  • Provision type is optional but should be free text to allow a variety (eg. section or s. or ss., regulation or reg, rule or r or rr., clause or cl, article, subsection or subs., subclause or subcl, subregulation, subrule etc.)
  • Provision number should be free text and accommodate parenthesis, periods, numbers and letters (e.g, 2(1), 2.2, 22A, 22(a), 22(a)(i).

=Work in progress=

Alternatively, I've created a link for a sandbox page on my user page as I was planning to get started there and work out the kinks (for example NSW vs NSW, Aus.).

:Advice or a cheat sheet as to how to do it also welcomed. Thx. ash (talk) 08:03, 7 April 2025 (UTC)

Userbox for Messianic Jews

Could the userbox I designed here be made into an actual template, that is, listed at Template:User Messianic Jew? Perhaps someone could also tweak it to make the colour parameter able to be customized — I don't really know how to do that. Perhaps there is already a template like this, but I haven't been able to find one.

request template for contentious topics

=initial request=

i need to set up the template below. i would like to add a parameter to insert the phrase that identifies the topic, and a parameter to provide an image file if desired. and let me know any other parameters that might be useful to add, as i am not very knowledgable in this area. thanks!! this will probably become template:contentious, which is currently a redirect. Thanks.

Rather, since this article seeks to cover a major ongoing conflict, we seek to be fair, by trying to present each side's POV on issues of significance. Topics may change on a constant basis; for truly updated information, we suggest you consult some reliable primary sources, for more background. (See: knowledge reduction)

If you need to take a break from the drama, confusion, contentious nature of this topic, then feel free to read about a phone booth in Arkansas or a guy who played two baseball games in 1872 or whatever comes up, which will surely be infinitely more useful in your daily life than getting between these fractious groups of editors, and you are less likely to be attacked by a Harrier-Hawk, too!! {{Jk}} }}

Template:Infobox Mexican federal electoral district

Respectfully requesting assistance with a template for the federal electoral districts of Mexico. I've been playing about with a subst'd draft on my sandbox, based on {{u|Mr Savva}}'s Template:Infobox Russian constituency. Does anyone feel kind enough to lend me a hand with making that a real template?

Moscow Mule (talk) 05:09, 13 May 2025 (UTC)

:Well, after some (not enough) reading of the documentation and a fair amount of testing, Template:Infobox Mexican federal electoral district now exists. Comments and corrections would be appreciated. And I couldn't get population-year to display where it wanted it to (after the popn figure). Moscow Mule (talk) 20:06, 16 May 2025 (UTC)

Template:Protected areas in the Negros Island Region

I would like to request a template creation in regards to the Protected areas in the Negros Island Region based on Western Visayas' and Central Visayas' in the Philippines. Essentially, with the same groups, but this time, it only includes the areas that are within the Negros Island Region. This is in line of the 2024 re-establishment of the said region in the Philippines.

Dimemainit (talk) 21:07, 15 May 2025 (UTC)

:That doesn't sound too hard. Something like that: Template:Protected areas in the Negros Island Region? Now you can edit it and fill in the entries for each category (where I have absolutely no idea which to include and which to not). Moscow Mule (talk) 01:28, 16 May 2025 (UTC)
