FINAL (0/9/0); withdrawn by candidate[http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Jimfbleak&diff=prev&oldid=186814743], RfA closed 15:12, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

{{User|Undead warrior}} - This user spends a good deal of time on wiki-friendly tasks such as CSD tagging, and I think it would be beneficial to the project to give him more power. I advised back in Nov what he needed to do to be a serious candidate, and that seems to have been taken on board. I went through contribs prior to nom, and I couldn't see anything suggesting a confrontational style or other potential problems, so I think Undead warrior is ready for the the apotheosis Jimfbleak (talk) 06:49, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

:Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here:

==Questions for the candidate==

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. It is recommended that you answer these optional questions to provide guidance for participants:

:1. What admin work do you intend to take part in?

::A: Well, for one, I love to monitor recent changes. If I see anything strange, I investigate it. If it turns out to be vandalism/blanking, I correct the revision and give the needed warning to the user who caused the problem. Also, I am normally up very late/very early editing. I am an insomniac, so Wikipedia helps me when it's dark and no one is up. (Right now, it's 1:00 AM) I tend to be editing for long, long periods of time. I will sometimes just start clicking [alt-x] until I come accross something that needs attention.

I also would like to take more part in AfD. I enjoy nominating, and I enjoy taking part in the little debates beneath them. I normally nominate things for AfD because of WP:MUSIC violations or WP:NOTABILITY violations. I have started to expand into the WP:CORP violations too.

:2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?

::A: I would consider my best contributions to be dealing with WikiProject Metal. As my name suggests, I love heavy metal and all its sub-genres. I do everything I can to expand the world of metal. I have started to make templates for metal bands too. I do this mainly to help people see what the artist has done without having to look all over the site for answers. I also have begun searching the web for notable bands to put on Wikipedia. An example of an earlier page I created would be Blo.Torch. If you would like to see the templates that I have created, they are all organized Here. I have also set up a page here for people to suggest templates or to tell me of AfD candidates.

:3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?

::A: I did have a conflict of interest with Emily Sander but that is resolved. I did not like people calling her an internet harlot. The term was deleted, and the article is now clean and serves it's point. In the future, if anyone causes me stress, I will try and talk to them about it in a civilized/calm way. If he or she does not wish to talk like this, then I will ignore that user until he or she can continue in a calm way.

I am a calm person. I do not like to get angry. People tend to stop thinking when they become angry.

:4. Your contributions under your current userid only go back a bit less than a year, but you [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3APhil_Bridger&diff=172957220&oldid=172832641 claim] to have been around since 2002. What userid did you use for the previous 5 years? Phil Bridger (talk) 08:50, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

::A Until this year, I have not kept the same user name for over a year. My first name, in 2002, was not actually a user name, but a series of numbers. (I can't give it out right now because it is now a password on a site I use that involves money) And no, it was not my i.p. address either. I didn't do much in '02, but I mainly became active in 2003. My username there was the same set of numbers, but that is only becuase I had joined in late 2002.(It was either in Nov. or Dec.) My name for 2007 was Undead Warrior, but my name for 2006 was Metal Head. That is why my sig is the way it is. I plan on keeping this username from now on. (I sort of like this one)

:::Follow Up Looking at User:Metal Head the account has never actually been used [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?limit=50&title=Special%3AContributions&contribs=user&target=Metal+Head&namespace=&year=&month=-1] Was this the username you registered? Pedro :  Chat  13:09, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

  • It might not have been. I just remember signing my name as that. This is the only account that I have really started to do revisions under. (I got a laptop so I can work at home now) I used to only work at school. Then the school's I.P. got banned, and for good reason, and then I took my little "wikibreak". This account is registered. :PUndeath (talk) 13:45, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

==Discussion==

  • Your signature causes confusion with {{user|M3tal H3ad}} (I've been bugging him to run; imagine my surprise in seeing it...). Please change it. Dihydrogen Monoxide (party) 09:15, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
  • Okay, I'll change my sig. :( Metal Head (talk) 12:50, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
  • There. It should be changed.Undeath (talk) 12:52, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
  • I'm going to suggest a withdrawl based on the discussion in the oppose section. SpencerT♦C 15:00, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
  • I second withdrawal. Tiptoety talk 15:06, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
  • See [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Jimfbleak&diff=prev&oldid=186814743] - the candidate seems to have expressed a desire to withdraw at this time. Pedro :  Chat  15:07, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

===Support===

===Oppose===

  1. Oppose. Just not enough experience yet. Only 1000 total edits and under 200 to the Wikipedia namespace. Only uses edit summaries half the time. Not enough experience yet to demonstrate knowledge of policies and procedures or to gain the complete trust of the community. I will support if you keep up the good work for a while longer; get at least 2000, if not 3000 edits and use edit summaries (it allows other editors to more quickly see what you were doing). Plus, I recommend that you change your signature to match your username (at least closer than "Metal Head" and "Undead Warrior"), it can be confusing. And your userpage is very long, I'd recommend you break it up into subpages. I do like your work in AFD, keep it up a while longer and you'll have my support. P.S. - we have something in common, I'm editing after 1AM, too. Useight (talk) 08:12, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
  2. Oppose With some, I hope, advice. 1) Your signature as identified by Useight above. 2) Turn on forced edit summaries 3) [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Murder_of_Emily_Sander&diff=prev&oldid=174837596] this comment here was very strange. I appreciate it was a vandalism reversion (use of the word "harlot") but "no one needs to know....." is not really the attitude editors should have. If it's true and verifiable people do need to know - that's exactly the purpose of an encyclopedia. Sorry, and Best Wishes. Pedro :  Chat  08:14, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
  3. Oppose. As the above have said, please change your signature and shorten your userpage, the latter almost crashed Firefox when I visited it. I'd recommend removing all the templates or moving things to subpages. Edit count also shows ~1k edits and instability in edit pattern (you came in March 07, became somewhat active in May, and disappeared until September) and admins need to show some sort of consistency - we don't want to give you the tools only to have you disappear in February but reappear in June. NF24(radio me!) 12:29, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
  4. Oppose The lack of experience is a major concern here. --Siva1979Talk to me 12:39, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
  5. I think some additional time would give you needed experience and would allay any concerns about your suitability for adminship. The username is confusing although that could be changed quickly enough. I would suggest two to three months and then come back. -JodyB talk 12:42, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
  6. Oppose This [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Airy_Points] shows he doesn't understand policy yet. Nick mallory (talk) 13:58, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
  7. Oppose, suggest withdrawal You do show some promise, but you're still not ready yet. The concerns brought up by other users are rather troubling -- only 1000 or so edits is way too early, and lack of edit summaries is a concern. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 14:25, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
  8. per above Would also recommend gaining greater familiarity with Wikipedia:Dispute resolution processes. Looking forward to next te. Dlohcierekim 15:00, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
  9. Oppose - More experience needed, try again next time. Tiptoety talk 15:07, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
