• Supporting evidence: Indefinitely-blocked Komodo lover continues to reappear as new logged-in sock accounts. Both of the new ones above were found due to cases filed at WP:AN/3RR. As explained in his 3RR report [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/3RRArchive71#User:Mr._Loner_reported_by_User:Mark_t_young_.28Result:_1_week_.29] Mr. Loner was able to make 500 edits over a two-week period in mid-April before he was give a one-week block for 3RR; after that User:Gb recognized him as a Komodo lover sock and he was indeffed on 27 April. A new LTA report, consolidating many findings, has just been opened at Wikipedia:Long term abuse/Komodo lover. For a summary of all the previous SSP reports take a look at Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Komodo lover (10th); my impression is that everything listed in the SSP was available to Alison when she ran the previous checkuser in December 07, with the exception of Mr. Loner and Total Ignorent boy. By adding this request, I'm hoping that checkuser can provide some guidance as to what further approaches might be fruitful. For example, is a range block possible? Thanks for any advice. • Supporting evidence:Komodo lover has become a highly persistent vandal and puppetmaster this year. All of these IPs and usernames are already in KL's suspected or confirmed categories. I think we should formally ban him and his socks as well as his probable meat puppets. I say meats because note that these IPs come from three continents, not likely one person. The Canada may well not be KL or a meat, but the Australia and Netherlands ones seem to be collaborating. I suspect the real KL may be the Netherlands one. I conferred with WJBscribe as well as Lucasfr and both agreed this case should be filed so we can get a better idea of what is going on. I got the IP info from ARIN.net, publicly available information. As RFCU clerk, I'll follow this all the way to archiving. — Rlevse • Talk • 13:53, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
• :I support the need for some investigation into these editing patterns. The spread of the IPs suggests this is not one user and I am beginning to wonder if some game is being played across these accounts. It would be useful in determining how efforts dealing with these vandals should be focused in the future to know if there are distinct groups at work here or just some element of copycat activity. Finally, there are elements of these accounts' behaviour that lead me to wonder if apparently legitimate accounts are also being run by these users - possibly helping to "detect" their own vandalism. However, I still believe User:AAP52 and User:Tyrannosaurus X are related, since Komodo lover's IP changes, it's possible he never edited pages without logging in when using those two accounts while having that IP. {{clerknote}} per tracert and WHOIS--both publicly available info, the "Australia" IPs are in Malaysia and the "Netherlands" IPs are in the United Kingdom. Also if you look at the contribs of the two groups (Malaysia and UK), the Malaysia ones all cease editing prior to about 01 Aug 2007, and the UK ones start a few days thereafter. :::I've grown interested in stopping this guy too. Check out this information I compiled of him, if you have any other information feel free to add to it. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:DietLimeCola/Komodo_lover] I dealt with this guy about a half a year ago, where he attempted to protect a non notable character's article (I had to redirect over 10 times after the decision was made, resulting in the redirected page to being locked, see [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Fred_Fredburger&redirect=no] and look at the history. It was quite a hassle for me and a hand-full of editors. I thought they were separate people back then, but now that I know it's all one person, I'm glad we're talking care of the problem.
