:* Please read the guide to filing a case and list of common reasons cases are rejected before filing a request.

:* Check that the dispute has already been through prior informal dispute resolution (e.g., an article request for comment, a Mediation Cabal case, or similar) before requesting formal mediation.

• ; After filing the request

:* Notify all the parties to the case of the Request for mediation (using the text {{Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/OpenNote}} or this utility). All parties must agree to the mediation within seven days or it will not be accepted.

:* Please consider watchlisting the case page, as a member of the MedCom may put queries to the parties or submit further suggestions.
