Unfortunately a new cluster of sockpuppets seems to have joined en.wiki to make its dirty job near here too. Please note: regardless of the subject this cluster is not related to both Tamburellista and Brunodam at all. Vituzzu (talk) 14:11, 8 March 2013 (UTC)

:This group seems to be related to some association in Trieste, claiming the former Free Territory of Trieste still exists but is "occupied" by Croatia, Italy and Slovenia. They started adding these content on it.wiki during first half of 2008. Then many accounts single-purpose accounts have been created just in order to re-add these contents or support re-additions in talkpages. From a technical point of view I was able to find at least 4 meatpuppets (in 3 States) with a number of sockpuppets. During last weeks the same patterns has spread from it.wiki to en.wiki, es.wiki and fr.wiki, I'm taking in consideration a global lock for all the involved accounts, basing on feedbacks from the involved projects. --Vituzzu (talk) 15:24, 9 March 2013 (UTC)

The article Free Territory of Trieste is now under full protection due to the activities of this group of editors. See the result of WP:AN3#User:188.216.240.13 reported by User:Dawn Bard (Result: Semi). The semiprotection put a stop to the cloud of IPs, but then two registered accounts continued the struggle, Aarska and Dorje77. I increased the protection to full. User:Dorje77 says on their user page, "My desire id to spread the Truth about the Free Territory of Trieste... I believe that the design of Wikipedia can help the Truth, in opposition to mainstream vision that negates international Treaty of Pace with Italy." If you check the contributions of {{user|Aarska}} you'll probably be convinced they aren't new to Wikipedia. They have an SUL with edits on Commons and frwiki, all Trieste-related. You might be asking yourself why such an editor would want to create a new sock just to mess with Trieste. If it turns out that the SPI investigation is difficult, a topic ban of these editors under WP:ARBMAC might be another way to go. The partisan editing is easy to verify, but knowing who is a sock of who, not so easy. Before semi was imposed, a lot of the revert-warring IPs were coming from Italy or Trieste.
