WP:DUCK Suggest checking IP to clear up possible (probable) farm. Verbal chat 17:26, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

I do not know why I have been accused, I was introducing myself to the first experienced user I came across Micromonkey (talk) 17:29, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

I would, however, like to make several points. The name similarity certainly seems to be an astonishing coincidence, however 'micromonkey' is not a particularly imaginitive name, so I can see where the confusion arises. As for yingyangchin, I stumbled across the userpage (I don't remember how) and noticed that it was blank, and when I checked the history, I saw that it had been blanked. As for the IPs, they seem to have been plucked from thin air, I can see no connection to macromonkey or yingyang, let alone myself. Finally, I removed the brackets as they did not seem to fit the usual format on Wikipedia, sorry if it was a mistake. Anyway, I look forward to this case being resolved, kind regards, Micromonkey (talk) 14:26, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

: I notice that yingyangching has edited the Derek Acorah article. Rest assured, I would not do this, he is in my top 10 of people whom I cannot abide Micromonkey (talk) 14:30, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

:: In addition, when this is over I would like to request a name change- I do not wish to be negatively associated with another user Micromonkey (talk) 17:33, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

;Comments by other users

I have a few more to check out. They edit from the same area and use the same arguments on the same articles. YinYangChing uses the same reasoning and is protected by Micromonkey when blanked:

Micromonkey has almost no edits, but [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:YinYangChing&diff=prev&oldid=299151987 one] stands out. This edit reverts "vandalism" that is blanking of a page of an obscure editor with almost no edit history, {{user|YinYangChing}}. YinYangChing had edited Cold reading, the article where Macromonkey was battling Verbal, who was tipped off by the greeting as Micromonkey's [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Verbal&diff=prev&oldid=299149997 second edit]. From the name similarity, the connection back through YinYangChing, and the immediate connection with Verbal, the suspicion that Macromonkey = Micromonkey = YinYangChing is clearly justified. MM, if you want to return to Wikipedia and make useful contributions, this isn't the way to do it. Ask me if you are serious about returning. --Abd (talk) 23:52, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

: I have also given advice to this user about returning, and agree that this isn't the way to do it. Verbal chat 07:03, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

{{endorse}}. In addition to the strong evidences presented by User:Verbal and User:BullRangifer, [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Cold_reading&diff=prev&oldid=193704278 this edit to Talk:Cold reading] gave it away. OhanaUnitedTalk page 19:48, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

;Conclusions

  • In addition to the quacking, the technical evidence says extremely {{likely}}. Regrettably the subject is on a very large, very active & very dynamic IP pool. This makes it hard to determine if he's maintaining a sleeper farm. There is nothing blatantly obvious at this time. --Versageek 01:16, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Amongst the other reasons for Macromonkey's indefinite block, user has vandalized User:BullRangifer's userpages [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:BullRangifer&diff=prev&oldid=279827882] and [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:BullRangifer&diff=prev&oldid=279828292]. Macromonkey has created a sock account, User:Bullrangifer (note the lowercase 'r') to further vandalize his pages – see contribs. This may very well be related to User:Free Hans as the sole contrib was also made in a disruptive manner with regards to User:Frei Hans and that the account created look very similar to the victims' actual accounts with one letter changes. Note that CheckUser has already shown that Free Hans is not a sock puppet of Frei Hans per Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Frei Hans. MuZemike 00:41, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

See Special:Contributions/Bullrangifer and the sole edit by Free Hans [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Papa_November&diff=prev&oldid=300685581] as far as vandalism is concerned. Also, for ease of comparison, I place the accounts side-by-side:

User:Free HansUser:Frei Hans

User:BullrangiferUser:BullRangifer

MuZemike 00:41, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

  • {{Endorse}} - While all the accounts are blocked, I will endorse a check for sleepers and to better determine the correct sock master. Tiptoety talk 00:44, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

First edits consist of unsolicited denial of being Macromonkey. [https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/w/index.php?title=User_talk:BullRangifer&diff=prev&oldid=301206796 diff1]. Also abusive edits: [https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/w/index.php?title=User_talk:RichardDawkins&diff=prev&oldid=300591218 diff2], [https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Ed_Poor&diff=prev&oldid=301179168 diff3]. etc Possible abuse of IPs ongoing.

Can we block his IP range? What would be the collateral? Verbal chat 16:44, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Macromonkey has been known to pretty directly tie his socks to his Macromonkey identity, so the fact he denies before being accused is typical. He seems to get a kick out of it. It's almost as if he wants to make sure that WE don't identify him before HE does it. Yes, it's childish behavior, but so far that's the type we've seen. A CU should be performed. {{decline}} I've blocked Placifist for disruptive editing. (See [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Ed_Poor&diff=prev&oldid=301179168 this], [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ghost_Hunters&diff=prev&oldid=301178973 this], and [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:RichardDawkins&diff=prev&oldid=300591218 this].) As for the account being related to Macromonkey, it is suspicious that Placifist stated he/she isn't related before he/she was accused of sockpuppetry, but any vandal could say "I'm not related to Grawp, bambifan101, Historian19, etc." Personally, I don't think the accounts are related. The editing styles of both users are quite different. It's most likely an isolated incident. Icestorm815Talk 17:29, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
