In [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mark_Bourrie&diff=890356611&oldid=889637072 this edit] the IP removed recently added sourced material from Mark Bourrie. The edit summary was "False material removed as per BLP policy -- IP trolling again". This is similar to edit summaries made by Spoonkymonkey such as [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mark_Bourrie&diff=888055361&oldid=888052202 "Undo vandalism by IP: BLP violation, 3 RR not applicable"] and [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mark_Bourrie&diff=888032545&oldid=887978598 "Remove tage from yet another disruptive IP account that literally started editing yesterday"].

:

Spoonkymonkey is the top editor of that article. They have made 114 edits to Mark Bourrie since 2009. User:Arthur Ellis, the next most frequent editor of that article, has less than half of that with 56 edits. The IP geolocates to Ottawa where Mark Bouriie lives, according to our article.

:

Spoonkymonkey was recently blocked [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:NinjaRobotPirate&diff=prev&oldid=890147839 at their own request] so they would not have been able to make this edit with their account. I made a mistake when filling out this form and put Sponnkymonkey instead of Spoonkymonkey. Grateful if someone could move the page for me. Thank you. Three Lobes (talk) 03:32, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

  • {{Decline}} - CU will not associate a named account with an IP. Cabayi (talk) 09:38, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
  • {{moreinfo}} - To recap your case: Mark Bourrie is in Ottawa; the IP is in Ottawa; and the IP uses edit summaries like Spoonkymonkey. The IP is actually in London ON. Good edit summaries aren't uncommon.

:On the other hand you, {{u|Three Lobes}}, raised a well-formed SPI page at your first edit after gaining autoconfirmed (your 15th edit overall). This isn't your first time on the dance floor. Please explain. Cabayi (talk) 09:55, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

::The IP is in Ottawa, not London. I have no idea where you get London from, but both geolocation tools I used say Ottawa, Canada. The edit summary uses language very similar to recent examples from Spoonkymonkey. I'm just pointing out the obvious here, the Ottawa IP is Spoonkymonkey. If my being able to use wikitext and fill out a form is a problem for you, that has nothing to with the validity of what has been reported. Three Lobes (talk) 14:59, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

  • Three Lobes has been blocked as a Long Term Abuse case. Closing. Cabayi (talk) 15:40, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

Until today, User:Jaquestheripper had made no edits since 14 July 2018. Today they [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mark_Bourrie&diff=prev&oldid=890685438 removed uncontested, properly sourced material] from Mark Bourrie. This was the same material removed by Ottawa IP User:174.115.164.109 as reported in the last sockpuppetry report. The timeline for the two acounts is interesting. Jaquestheripper stops editing around the same time that Spoonkymonkey returns to editing after a 4 year break. Now when Spoonkymonkey is blocked, Jaquestheripper returns to editing after almost two years. Hmmm. Bit Toiler (talk) 03:23, 3 April 2019 (UTC) Bit Toiler (talk) 03:23, 3 April 2019 (UTC)

New account that's only edited Talk:Mark Bourrie. Their [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Mark_Bourrie&diff=898597723&oldid=898369966 first edits] are in the style of banned sockpuppets User:Spoonkymonkey, and historical sockpuppets User:Arthur Ellis, and User:Ceraurus. Talk:Mark Bourrie and Mark Bourrie were a favourite all these sockpuppets, along with claims (possibly true) of being User:Mark Bourrie, and complaining about content relating to Senator Duffy. Their other [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Mark_Bourrie&diff=900636342&oldid=898597723 edit] is in a similar vein to comments made by these sockpuppets over the years. With the page protection for Mark Bourrie ending, there's suddenly been an influx of the usual IP edits concerned about how Mark Bourrie is reflected. And then there's this recent [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Mark_Bourrie&diff=915895257&oldid=906829060 edit] by new user Sportman360 who is very concerned about how Mark Bourrie is reflected - a common feature of the Spoonkymonkey and Ceraurus/Mark Bourrie sock puppets (see also Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Ceraurus. Sportman360 also deleted comments about Senator Mike Duffy [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Robert_Fife&diff=912745576&oldid=887997677 here], another common feature (Mark Bourrie has admitted to having been paid editor relating to Mike Duffy). Sportman360 has also shown interest in Talk:James Bacque [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:James_Bacque&diff=916443887&oldid=905202979 here], where one of the few other editors was Spoonkymonkey. Corrtimes shows a strong interest in Canadaland, a podcast on which the sockmaster appeared and previously edited [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest/Noticeboard&diff=prev&oldid=1101985237] [https://sigma.toolforge.org/usersearch.py?name=Spoonkymonkey&page=Canadaland&max=500&server=enwiki]. {{noping|Hard thoughtful work}} has also had a recent interest in Canadaland, including their first AfD (bundling a Canadaland podcast host and their podcast), as well as other Canadaland-related edits, e.g. [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Cool_Mules&diff=prev&oldid=1107777443], [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Thunder_Bay_(podcast)&diff=next&oldid=1107784268]. Beccaynr (talk) 00:00, 2 September 2022 (UTC)

: Both appear to be votestacking the AfD in that case. EnPassant♟♙ (talk) 00:37, 2 September 2022 (UTC)

::{{noping|Hard thoughtful work}} notified {{noping|CorrTimes}} of the AfD on their Talk page: [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:CorrTimes&diff=prev&oldid=1107782722]. CorrTimes has edited [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_White_Saviors&action=history the podcast article] before it was nominated for deletion. Beccaynr (talk) 00:44, 2 September 2022 (UTC)

:::As another coincidence, {{u|CT55555}} raised concerns about WP:HOUNDING with {{noping|CorrTimes}} on CorrTimes' Talk page on August 9, 2022, including about the Olusola Adeogun article later nominated at AfD by {{noping|Hard thoughtful work}} in their first AfD nomination (to clarify my comment above, Hard thoughtful work [https://afdstats.toolforge.org/afdstats.py?name=Hard+thoughtful+work&max=&startdate=&altname= participated in 2 AfDs] in 2021 before their recent AfD noms on August 31, 2022). Beccaynr (talk) 17:38, 2 September 2022 (UTC)

::::Thanks. The whole encounter with CorrTimes has caused me to edit here less, I got accusations thrown at me repeatedly from an apparently new account that also knows notices boards and tags and AfD process, but really only seems to use any of them around the theme of Canadaland. I was going to complain more, but as I got accused of having a conflict of interest (I don't have a conflict) and as I felt a bit harassed I decided to ignore it for the sake of my wellbeing and just spend less time on this website. • Everyone except CorrTimes is {{IPStale}}. CU log data puts CorrTimes a fair distance away from Spoonkymonkey and their socks, though that data is from 2019 and so should be taken with a grain of salt. GeneralNotability (talk) 13:55, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
  • Shared interest in a podcast isn't strongly indicative of socking. I don't see any editing overlap, GN's CU results suggest they're different people, and [https://spi-tools.toolforge.org/spi/timecard/Spoonkymonkey?users=CorrTimes&users=Jaquestheripper&users=Spoonkymonkey the timecards] also suggest they're different people. Closing without action. -- RoySmith (talk) 15:24, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
  • :PS, the fact that CorrTimes hasn't edited in almost a month means there's no urgency to do anything here. -- RoySmith (talk) 15:25, 6 October 2022 (UTC)

[https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mark_Bourrie&diff=prev&oldid=1200012092 Oneoff's most recent revert at Mark Bourrie article] [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mark_Bourrie&diff=prev&oldid=890685438 removal of same material by a proven sockpuppet]

Oneofff has focused extensively, but not exclusively, on the Mark Bourrie article. In particular, their focusing on removal of this particular item aligns with prior edits by other Spoonkymonkey socks which led to increased levels of page protection. There is enough quacking that I could take immediate action—and Oneofff is on notice for a possible 3RR block if they revert again—but I would like more eyes on the case. I know that time is not on my side here, given the age of the master account, but nonetheless I feel this is the best venue for this review. —C.Fred (talk) 15:09, 28 January 2024 (UTC)

  • I'm not through investigating but I have blocked the account indefinitely. They're almost certainly a sock, given that they're seemingly only here to purge Bourrie's biography of the reliably-sourced and thoroughly reviewed material about Mike Duffy's fraud trial, just like every past sock. They're also at something like 50RR and have made a legal threat in their most recent revert, which I have undone. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 15:32, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
  • :Unsurprisingly, checkuser is not particularly helpful as there are no non-stale accounts. According to logs, Oneofff edits from a geographical area and from networks in common with past socks, but it is a highly populated area served by a small number of very large ISPs, so they are {{possible}} at best. The behaviour is very telling, though:
  • :*removing the claims about Bourrie and Duffy (as I mentioned above);
  • :*claiming to be Bourrie; although Oneofff didn't say so explicitly as other socks have, their last revert on Mark Bourrie had an edit summary containing "I should have been consulted" ([https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mark_Bourrie&diff=prev&oldid=1200031305]) which would not be suspicious if not for this case's long history;
  • :*threatening legal action when they are detected (same edit, also edits to User talk:Deleting Unnecessary Words and their own talk page post-block)
  • :Thus I'm confident they're a sockpuppet, at least within our definitions of multiple accounts acting in the same way. Closing. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 15:58, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
