This is for citing Catalogue of Life, which is a useful taxonomic database. Only 3 transclusions since 2016. No documentation. Seems to cite a very specific subset of the website (the [https://www.catalogueoflife.org/annual-checklist/2011/ 2011 Annual Checklist]) rather than the [https://www.catalogueoflife.org/data/search?facet=rank&facet=issue&facet=status&facet=nomStatus&facet=nameType&facet=field&facet=authorship&facet=extinct&facet=environment&limit=50&offset=0&sortBy=taxonomic regular search page]. • I made this template simply to ease the translation of contents from other languages back to English. Also, there is now a newer 3rd version of citing contents from CoL, but I never included. Open to comments, suggestions or modification. --Tomchiukc (talk) 03:11, 6 June 2022 (UTC)
• Comment. I found the similar template {{t|Catalogue of Life}} today, which is what I was expecting this one to be and which has 284 transclusions. If {{t|Cite COL}} kept, it should perhaps be renamed to {{t|Cite COL 2011 Annual Checklist}} or similar, so as not to get mixed up with the template {{t|Catalogue of Life}}. • I've updated the syntax to pass parameters to {{t|Infobox ice hockey tournament season}} so that it has the same style without adding the additional parameters as I agree too many are clunky and unnecessary. –Aidan721 (talk) 13:55, 9 June 2022 (UTC)

• substitute and delete, people generally copy the infobox from the prior season when starting an article for a new season, so simply omitting the parameters will generally control any in-article parameter bloat. Frietjes (talk) 18:10, 16 June 2022 (UTC)
