Assessment task force

=How to assess an article=

Assessing an article is easy! Before you begin, look at the Wikipedia Version 1.0 Editorial Team Assessment Scale and Examples. This explains the rating system and gives examples of correctly rated articles.

  1. Go to the category by clicking on Unassessed in the assessment box at the top of this page. You will see a list of articles in need of assessment.
  2. Click on an article link - this should take you to the talk page.
  3. Click on the "Article" tab - look at the article and make an assessment.
  4. Click on the "Discussion" tab - this should return you to the talk page.
  5. Click the "Edit this Page" tab. You will see {{Business| class= | importance= }} at the top of the page.
  6. Fill in the tag's attributes.
  7. Fill in {{para|class}} using one of these values: Stub, Start, C, B, GA, A, FL, FA, etc.. Before assessing, please note the following definitions:
  8. * GA - use this value only if the article is currently listed as a Good Article.
  9. * A - use this value only if you feel the article is well written, is properly referenced, and has lots of content.
  10. * FA - use this value only if the article is currently listed as a Featured Article.
  11. * For more information on rating see the V1.0 Assessment Scale.
  12. Fill in {{para|importance}} using one of these values: Top, High, Mid, Low, NA.
  13. You're done! (unless you want to go back to Unassessed and do another assessment) -- we hope you will!

Note: You can also put the tag {{Business| class= | importance= }} on any business or economics article you come across that hasn't yet been associated with this project. This will add it to the list of unassessed topics.

=Assessment standards=

==Content standards==

==FA criteria==

A featured article exemplifies our very best work and features professional standards of writing and presentation. In addition to meeting the requirements for all Wikipedia articles, it has the following attributes:

  1. It is well written, comprehensive, factually accurate, neutral and stable.
  2. *(a) "Well written" means that the prose is compelling, even brilliant.
  3. *(b) "Comprehensive" means that the article does not neglect major facts and details.
  4. *(c) "Factually accurate" means that claims are attributable to reliable sources and accurately present the related body of published knowledge. Claims are supported with specific evidence and external citations; this involves the provision of a "References" section in which sources are set out, complemented by inline citations for quotations and for any material that is challenged or likely to be challenged. See the Verifiability policy for information on when and how extensively references are provided, and citing sources for suggestions on formatting references; for articles with footnotes or endnotes, the [http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Cite/Cite.php meta:cite] format is recommended.
  5. *(d) "Neutral" means that the article presents views fairly and without bias (see neutral point of view); however, articles need not give minority views equal coverage (see undue weight).
  6. *(e) "Stable" means that the article is not the subject of ongoing edit wars and that its content does not change significantly from day to day; vandalism reverts and improvements based on reviewers' suggestions do not apply.
  7. It complies with the standards set out in the manual of style and relevant WikiProjects, including:
  8. *(a) a concise lead section that summarizes the entire topic and prepares the reader for the higher level of detail in the subsequent sections;
  9. *(b) a proper system of hierarchical headings; and
  10. *(c) a substantial but not overwhelming table of contents (see section help).
  11. It should have images if they are appropriate to the subject, with succinct captions and acceptable copyright status. If non-free content images are used, they must meet the criteria for fair use images and be labeled accordingly.
  12. It is of appropriate length, staying focused on the main topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style).
