One of the goal of this WikiProject is to assess the quality and the importance of each chess-related article.
- You can have details on the Template for assessment on this page at Chess-WikiProject template
- You can see the current state of assessments in the colored table situated at the top-right of this page.
- You can learn a bit about the quality assessment scale here, and a bit about the importance assessment scale there.
- You can find a list of articles that have not already been assessed by clicking on the Unassessed link.
The depth of your assessment shall depend on the quality of the article:
- Assessment as Stub-class, Start-class, C-class, or B-class shall be quick and bold.
- Assessment as GA-class, A-class or FA-class shall need a more thorough review, as explained in the Wikipedia:WikiProject Chess/Review separate page. FA criteria, GA Criteria

When you use the template, the pages will be logged into Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Chess articles by quality by an automated bot. Articles should be nominated and reviewed for A-class at Wikipedia:WikiProject Chess/Review.
When you create a new chess article, please add this template to the talk page and add the article to List of chess topics.
