This article is overly long and has too much detail culled from documentaries about the band. I looked at this but I think it needs an expert look at it before I continue with adding further references. Karst (talk) 11:27, 18 February 2025 (UTC)

=[[Japanese occupation of West Sumatra]]=

Hello, I am requesting a copy edit for this article to improve its grammar, style, and readability.

The article covers the Japanese occupation of West Sumatra, officially known as Sumatora Nishi Kaigan Shū, from 1942 to 1945, detailing how the region was governed under Japanese military rule and later civilian administration. It explores the unique case of West Sumatra, where a civilian governor, Yano Kenzo, was appointed instead of direct military control, which was rare in occupied Indonesia. Key topics include Japanese governance, the role of Minangkabau leaders, the formation of Indonesia’s first military units (Giyūgun), and the transition from occupation to independence.

Additionally, it examines economic collapse within the region, forced labour (Rōmusha), and interactions between the Japanese and local communities. It also examines tensions and infighting within the Japanese Imperial Army and its apparatus, and Japanese plans for Sumatra in the long-run and it's aftermath. The article also discusses the strategic importance of West Sumatra in Japan’s defensive planning and the differing approaches taken in Sumatra compared to Java during the occupation.

I have done my best to ensure historical accuracy, but a peer review by user Chipmunkdavis recommended seeking copy-editing assistance. Since the article includes detailed historical analysis, improving clarity and flow while maintaining neutrality is my main priority.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance. Kaliper1 (talk) 11:59, 20 February 2025 (UTC)

Rewrite article per wiki standards, article seems to have a negative viewpoint instead of neutral and seems to have too many references. Also it has original research. DareshMohan (talk) 03:21, 27 February 2025 (UTC)

=[[Death in June]]=

I read through this article and I feel that it contains a lot of very unencyclopic writing, overtly analyzing the band's imagery and the discussion of the band from a political standpoint doesn't seem to have much bearing on the readers' understanding of the subject, nor does, for example, the comment made by one of the band members about which men he allegedly has sex with. Can someone go through this article and lift out the less encyclopedic parts? Also, can someone add some more information about how they formed, how were their first shows received, how were their albums received, how the band in general has been received throughout the years (some of the comments on allegations of the band's political alliances can be moved around to areas of the biography where they would be more relevant), relevant activity of the band members, information on lineups during the band's existence or if it's always primarily been a solo vehicle for one man?

As it currently stands, the article doesn't deepen my understanding of the band. If someone wanted to research the band, I think that this article would not help anyone learn more about them, as I don't know any more about this band than when I first heard about them, and this article could be expanded and rewritten to give a more scholarly overview of their history and reception, as it currently reads to me like an article written by fans that doesn't really give much substantive information, and the way the little information in the article is presented, I think that it would not be helpful to readers who are not deeply familiar with the band. For example, I was left confused as to why the article discusses the band having alleged fascist leanings but also says that one of the members was kicked out of the group because he joined a fascist political party and tried to bring his politics into the band? It doesn't explain whether the band's leader had a political shift overtime or if he was using fascist imagery for shock value. Regardless, I don't really see the relevance to the quote at the end about which men the one member of the group allegedly likes to have sex with, it doesn't seem like it's very relevant to the subject. :{{re|LupinOnTheFritz}} Just to clarify, members of the Guild of Copyeditors are not obligated to add content to an article or find sources (copyeditors are free to do that if they wish, but they are not expected to do so). Regards, Grumpylawnchair (talk) 17:01, 5 March 2025 (UTC)

Article has already been promoted to GA since January 2025. Requesting PR (Peer Review) to maintain/further improve grammar and prose, per another editor's suggestion. Changedforbetter (talk) 18:11, 5 March 2025 (UTC)

:{{U|Changedforbetter}}: We will be happy to copy edit the article, but if you want to request an actual Peer Review, please see the instructions for doing so. – Jonesey95 (talk) 17:27, 6 March 2025 (UTC)

::@Jonesey95 sorry, I'm not entirely sure I'm familiar with the copy-editing process. I inputted PR because I thought it was the appropriate selection here; I must have misunderstood. If PR is not relevant, kindly ignore and proceed with a regular copyedit. Changedforbetter (talk) 19:40, 6 March 2025 (UTC)

Over a period of time, I have expanded the article's content significantly. Other editors have been very helpful in correcting reference templates, grammar as well as making peer review comments. One of the suggestions from peer reveiw is that the article needs proper copy editing. While this article on a battle of World War II was under ACR for the military history project, two reviewers suggested that there are many linguistic infelicities that have to be fixed and suggested that the article is copy-edited before its nomination is reconsidered. As I am not a native speaker of English and having failed to notice the problematic nature of some phrases and constructions that had already been in use in the article's text and pointed out as such by the reviewers, I thought I should follow their advice and address a request for a copy edit here before resubmitting the article for ACR. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Ashmedai 119 (talk) 06:31, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
