How to upload an image and place it in an article

Draft

=Ideas=

Uploading an image in four (not quite easy :/ ) steps:

  1. Choose an image
  2. *Image needs to be "free" "open"
  3. **Meaning of "free" has to be clear about copyleft, hence note "open" instead
  4. **If it's yours, you can make it free, it's yours to do whatever you want with
  5. **If not, you need to be sure it's already free
  6. **Ignore the fair-use case? Complicated, but relevant to wikis where it's applicable.
  7. Go to upload page
  8. *Select file on your computer
  9. *Fill in applicable license. If yours and not sure, CC-BY-SA a safe bet, same as for your text contributions
  10. *Fill in template with information about it:
  11. **Information in template goes after each |parameter=
  12. **A basic description: who, what, where, when, perhaps how
  13. **Who made it (if you, write your name the way you want to be credited!)
  14. **What license
  15. **Any special notes
  16. Hit the upload submit button
  17. *Edit as necessary, whenever
  18. Include your image in an article using File:Example.png
  19. *Only go into easy "thumb" method, image syntax is confusing!
