Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/1UP Reference Update Task Force

{{Historical}}

Reason

In early March 2008, 1UP retroactivity changed their content. Most of these changes were to change from a number-based to grade-based ratings scale for game reviews, but there also appears to be changes in article content. Furthermore, because 1UP has used a robots.txt file to block archiving by the Wayback Machine, we cannot rely on any references using "accessdate" to be correct.

Thus, this task force is intended to go through the articles listed below to do two things:

  • If the article uses a 1UP review, update the review score to the grade-based system.
  • If the article uses a 1UP article, the statement that is being sourced needs to be compared to the reference to make sure that the 1UP article still supports it.

Directions

  1. Pick an unchecked article from this list
  2. Review it for any 1UP references, making sure to follow any named 1UP references.
  3. * For review scores, update the review score to the grade-based one
  4. * For any other source, make sure that the 1UP article still supports the claim. If the 1UP article no longer supports the statement, then the 1UP reference should be removed (making sure to also checked for named references that may use it), and if no other source is present to support the statement, then a {{tl|cn}} (citation needed) or {{tl|fact}} template needs to be added. If this is latter is done, a message on the article's talk page, explaining the situation, should be left.
  5. When completed for all 1UP links in an article, strikethrough below using the tag set.
