This course is designed to introduce students to the origins and significance of the phenomenon of terrorism. We discuss the theories and motivations that underlie international and domestic terrorism. We will also seek to understand why a person chooses to commit terrorist acts, why organizations arise and decline, and the efficacy of counterterrorism efforts.
