Wikipedia talk:Long-term abuse/Hydro dot net#New rangeblock

Notifying other involved editors

{{Ping|Johnuniq|Iryna Harpy|MrOllie|WikiPedant|KhaasBanda|General Ization|Muhandes}} Since this abuse has been going on for long enough, I decided to create a long-term abuse page to document it; should make it easier to report these IP addresses to WP:AIV when they show up. Any ideas about what to do about this abuse would also be welcome. -- intgr [talk] 16:21, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

:Sorry, I'm lacking context. There doesn't seem to be a registered user {{U|Hydro dot net}}. General Ization Talk 16:39, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

:Also, there doesn't seem to be a corresponding entry at :Wikipedia:Long-term abuse. Did you follow the procedure described there? General Ization Talk 16:41, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

::{{Ping|General Ization}} Sorry, I forgot to add it to the lists, it should be there now. Yes, "hydro dot net" is not a user; there is no registered user as explained on the page, just a bunch of IPs. So I made up the name because the user's additions frequently mention "hydro dot net". I pinged you because you have reverted several of this user's edits. -- intgr [talk] 18:58, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

: Thanks for creating this. You didn't list Domain hijacking e.g. [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Domain_hijacking&diff=817124699&oldid=815259658] --Muhandes (talk) 20:46, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

::The same IP hopper has returned to the "Cybercrime" talk page - [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/125.200.105.194 here] - within days of temporary page protection being lifted. The user may get tired/bored, but I get the feeling that they're too persistent to let it go. The latest IP address has a demonstrated record of lurking around anything 'espionage' related (as well as removing content s/he doesn't like surrounding subjects obviously unknown to them). At the least, this is block evasion, and having to keep preventing IPs from commenting on the development of an article is not a desirable solution. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 19:17, 8 April 2018 (UTC)

:I recently asked [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Teahouse&oldid=856557917#How_to_report_a_set_of_suspected_IP_sockpuppets? a question at the Teahouse] about some IP addresses that I think might be connected to the "hydro dot net" editor. Assistance would be gratefully received. Zazpot (talk) 18:59, 26 August 2018 (UTC)

New rangeblock

{{Ping|Ivanvector}} Pinging you because you created the previous rangeblock. How about blocking 126.243.0.0/16 [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?limit=50&title=Special%3AContributions&contribs=user&target=126.243.0.0%2F16&namespace=&tagfilter=&start=&end= (contribs)]? Since the previous rangeblock was created, 5 of their IPs have been from this range [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Long-term_abuse/Hydro_dot_net&type=revision&diff=882060822&oldid=876657843&diffmode=source]. -- intgr [talk] 17:08, 6 February 2019 (UTC)

Time to archive this LTA

I did some digging, and it seems this pattern of edits ceased sometime in 2019. I will change the status to archived. Feel free to revert if I missed something. -- intgr [talk] 20:25, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
