Current backlog?

Hi ACC team, how far is the current backlog? A VRT customer wanted to check on their request (ticket:2024073010007012). — xaosflux Talk 14:24, 30 July 2024 (UTC)

:I'll leave a note on the ticket on this specific request for it has already been responded to and is closed.{{pb}}For the more general answer, we have 16 requests open right now in the main queue, all but one of which are less than 18h old. The larger concern is the queue awaiting checkuser attention, which is nearly 200 requests long, the oldest of which are in the range of 3mo old. Anyone (who can read XML) can pull the current queue lengths from ACC's API at https://accounts.wmflabs.org/api.php?action=status stwalkerster (talk) 19:52, 30 July 2024 (UTC)

Weird situation - user not receiving temp password emails when account created

I have been working with a user who needs an account created and IPBE granted (thus, the request coming to the checkusers-en VRT queue). We have no difficulty communicating through the VRT interface. However, I have twice created an account for the user, and neither time has he received the email that would give him the temporary password for the account; it wasn't in his spam folder, and no trace could be found of it being rejected. I asked him to ensure that his contacts lists included both *wikimedia.org and *wikipedia.org as recognized contacts, and he says he has done that. Nonetheless, the same results with the second attempt at creating an account - no email, nothing in spam, nothing flagged by his filters, etc. Has anyone else encountered this situation? Any additional suggestions? Risker (talk) 17:56, 28 November 2024 (UTC)

Setting up a Wikidata equivalent

Wikidata has been needing an increasing amount of rangeblocks. How easy would it be to create a clone of ACC for Wikidata? We probably need one fairly soon. Jasper Deng (talk) 09:10, 23 January 2025 (UTC)

accounts.wmflabs.org down?

https://accounts.wmflabs.org is throwing 403 errors. Where is the maintainer information for this documented? — xaosflux Talk 10:07, 20 June 2025 (UTC)

:I'm aware of https://github.com/enwikipedia-acc/waca ; but this seems to be an operations maintainer situation, not a software development issue. — xaosflux Talk 10:14, 20 June 2025 (UTC)

::Taking a guess that {{ping|Stwalkerster}} may be able to point to where to report production errors. — xaosflux Talk 10:18, 20 June 2025 (UTC)

:::https://github.com/enwikipedia-acc/waca/issues/ is where we handle most stuff, including operational errors. In this case though, we're already aware of the issue and it's actually an issue with OpenStack Cinder/WMCS itself, not directly something that the ACC tool roots can fix (though we could probably work around the issue with substantial effort).{{pb}}I was hoping that the issue could be resolved fairly quickly and the service would recover itself, but alas sometimes things take time. For now, I've put an error page up which is slightly more useful, at the cost of it now being unable to recover automatically once the Cinder volume is fixed. stwalkerster (talk) 11:27, 20 June 2025 (UTC)

::::Thank you. Is there an upstream bug track? — xaosflux Talk 12:23, 20 June 2025 (UTC)

:::::There is now. {{tracked|T397517}} Andrew Bogott has kindly restored the broken volume from backup, so things are now back up and running. Expect some instability though as there's now a discrepancy between the state of the instance on Horizon and reality, and I'm tempted to rebuild things to avoid the dependency on Cinder. stwalkerster (talk) 13:19, 20 June 2025 (UTC)
