Size of A Nobody

Just wondering, but how long did it take you to write that? RockManQ (talk) 01:35, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

:I did not time myself, but I would say several minutes as I looked at every discussion in which we both participated, checked block logs, looked over the candidate's userpage, wrote up a thorough comment as I did so, proofread it, etc. I figure if I am going to bother to comment in these, I want to make sure I add something new to the discussion that someone else has not yet said and that is comprehensive enough to be fair and clear. Best, --A NobodyMy talk 01:59, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

::Heh, might just be me, but it always seems your rationales keep getting longer (support or oppose). Not that that's a bad thing. RockManQ (talk) 02:36, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

:::Well, if I just said oppose for the reasons I wanted to oppose, someone would say here or on my talk page that I am only opposing because we disagreed in certain discussions, which wouldn't actually be true, because I never really just consider one aspect of an admin candidate when I look at them for an RfA. So, I increasingly find myself having to make as comprehensive of a rationale as possible. Plus, as I indicate in my oppose, I really do value well thought out and unique contributions to discussions and think it's important to present information and ideas not considered by others. But I better stop myself from rambling! :) --A NobodyMy talk 03:31, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

::::I have no problem with longer reationales---especially in the oppose section. It shows that the person did in fact research the candidate before !voting. It also substantiates the !vote. I'd rather see a long well reasoned rationale, than a short "Oppose, don't like how candidates votes at AfD's."---Balloonman PoppaBalloon 05:15, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

:::::Detailed (rather than merely "long" - substance is the key) rationales can influence other editors, which is useful, and can be very helpful to Crats. --Dweller (talk) 20:33, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
