to do

  1. simplify spellings (remove accent marks)?
  2. decide on a way to standardize names (last, first; first last; etc)
  3. synchronize names between lists
  4. create table of counts (rikurzhen will do)
  5. look for duplicates, return to step 1 and repeat until no duplicates

Splitting the alphabet

Why don't we split the alphabet? Maybe one of us could take A-J, and the other take K-Z, or something like that. We could use last name (regardless of whether it is the surname), except for people who went by one name, such as Elizabeth 1. Maurreen 07:53, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

:That's probably the best way to proceed. Give me a little bit of time to do one intial pass thru to build a union list in which we can look for duplicates. --Rikurzhen 07:57, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

:Check the "output" section below. Different ways of writing the same name have resulted in the same person appearing on more than one line, and thus being under counted. (See, for example, Dante.) If we can synchronize the names between each list, I can compile a new clear output section. Suggestions? --Rikurzhen 08:35, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

::I'm getting tired. Don't know how much more I will be able to do tonight. But I've looked at the top 50 of four lists (not Time and Murray yet). So far, the only ones that are repeated are ones we already have on the list. So I guess we've done a pretty good job so far. Maurreen 08:43, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

:::NP, later --Rikurzhen 08:45, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
