I have started a discussion on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject California#Proposal to deprecate Incorporated and Unincorporated area static maps, proposing to deprecate the Incorporated and Unincorporated area static maps like :File:San Diego County California Incorporated and Unincorporated areas San Diego Highlighted.svg, many of which were originally uploaded in 2007, in favor of using Template:Maplink and the like, and have those templates automatically import the current border data from OpenStreetMap and other sources.
