Hi - I don't think I've ever done this before, but I have made two additions today; to the Lodge and Cascade pages. In both instances, I was trying to add a "type" which I think needed inclusion. For lodge, I wanted to cover the type of building that stands at the entrance to many country estates. A good example is Worcester Lodge on the Badminton Estate in England. For cascade, I wanted to cover the type of artificial waterfall often found on such grand country estates. A good example here is the cascade on the Chatsworth House estate, again in England. The terms "lodge" and "cascade" are very commonly used in these ways in British English, and have long historical pedigrees. Really, both terms should have articles, which I may get around to.

So, should these be included, and if so, have I done them correctly? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks and best regards. KJP1 (talk) 15:42, 16 April 2025 (UTC)

One thing, though, MOS:DABBLUE guides us to use only one blue link per entry, so you will want to pick the best blue link in each of these that will guide readers to the most appropriate article, and then disable the other link. It appears that {{user|MrPersonHumanGuy}} is implementing a new type of page called a "Navigation page" that looks kind of like a Disambiguation page, but with a different focus. It apparently stems from a VPI idea lab discussion. A short description taken from the category page reads:

• "{{xt|These pages are distinct from disambiguation pages in that, while disambiguation pages list different topics that share the same name, navigation pages include a list of articles or sections that all contain information on the exact same topic.}}"

Pieces of the whole include:

• VPI discussion WP:VPI#Navigation pages, 13 March
• essay Wikipedia:Navigation pages, 15 April (and shortcut)
• sample nav pages: Amari McCoy; Glove and Boots; and Nick Fuentes, Donald Trump, and Kanye West meeting
• template {{t|navpage}}, (14 April; four editors) – a footer identifying a page as a navpage, analogous to {{t|disambiguation}}
• category :Category:Navigation pages, 14 April (and shortcuts)
• Wikipedia Glossary entry § Navigation page (diff), 14 April
• AFD disposition 'Navify' has appeared in at least two Afd discussions as a new Atd, e.g. here

That's a lot in a short while, certainly bold, but appears to be receiving positive feedback. I will probably revert the glossary entry which is supposed to be used for "terms commonly used" at Wikipedia and not for neologisms, but if it catches on, it can be restored. I have some concerns that Disambig project folks might not be aware of this new page type idea, and should certainly be able to give their opinion about it. Probably at VPI to avoid fragmentation, except for aspects that specifically concern disambiguation, I would think. A minor concern is naming similarity with WP:CLNT#Navigation templates and the proposed short name 'Navpage' in the Glossary entry. Mathglot (talk) 22:35, 18 April 2025 (UTC)

:I would suggest discussing this over at Wikipedia:Village pump (idea lab)#Navigation pages to avoid fragmentation. I disagree that this is being received positively. I think recent comments indicate that several people have concerns. At some point I think {{t|Navigation page}} may end up at TFD to help generate a proper consensus about whether it's OK to start letting these pages be created throughout Wikipedia. –Novem Linguae (talk) 23:21, 18 April 2025 (UTC)
