It's only been a couple of years, figure we should dust off this section...hey {{ping|Sturmvogel_66}} - I was looking through the lists the other day, and saw we have a couple of co-noms we could put up at FAC: French battleship Charles Martel or French battleship Liberté, if you're interested. Kirov-class

Would the (Kirov class battlecruisers) be in the scope of the project? SEKDIS (talk) 19:51, 5 May 2023 (UTC)

Coordinator discussion

FYI: WT:MHCOORD#Majestic Titan. Ed [talk[majestic titan] 17:22, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

What happened to these lists?

The List of battlecruisers of World War II and List of ships of World War II are both very unusual. The overall list of ships doesn't seem to have a list at all, and the battlecruiser list only covers 4 ships despite mentioning ships of other nations in its introduction. Am I missing something? Tylermack999 (talk) 17:52, 19 February 2025 (UTC)

:Good question - I've never been a big fan of these lists, which were created primarily by a single user a few years back. The battlecruiser lists in particular seem pretty redundant to the main List of battlecruisers page, since the Venn diagram between that list and the List of battlecruisers of World War I is basically a circle, and the World War II list is a tiny subset of those two lists (general consensus is that 4 items do not a stand alone list make). It's also dubious to include Yavuz in that list, since Turkey was not a belligerent - we aren't talking about a List of battlecruisers of the World War II era, after all. I'd be happy to redirect both of them as redundant, if it were up to me.

:As for the general list, I think the whole project is a bit of a fool's errand; there are, comfortably, a thousand vessels that would be included on List of frigates of World War II, and I don't really see the utility of a list that size. List of corvettes of World War II and List of minor warships of World War II are both comically incomplete, but would suffer from the same problem. The minor warships page would be ludicrously long if it even approached completeness. I don't see a lot of value in these lists. Parsecboy (talk) 21:38, 23 February 2025 (UTC)

::Now that you mention it, I definitely agree. Then would the right move be to redirect them? Or maybe they could be converted into lists including ships that served in the Second World War but not the first. Like you said though, there isn’t much there. Tylermack999 (talk) 03:22, 24 February 2025 (UTC)

:::I'd suggest that this is a job for WP:AfD -- I suspect that that would be the best place to reach a consensus. DeemDeem52 (talk) 18:03, 30 March 2025 (UTC)

::::How do I raise this to AfD? I haven’t done that before. Tylermack999 (talk) 19:38, 30 March 2025 (UTC)

:::::You can find instructions on how to do it at WP:AFDHOWTO, or you can use WP:TWINKLE on the page to do it automatically. DeemDeem52 (talk) 15:03, 31 March 2025 (UTC)

::::::I was looking to redo List of battlecruisers of World War I, and the best way to do so is by copying most of the List of Battlecruisers over. The only pageviews come from the List of Battlecruiser template, so I dont see the need of having the two articles indepdendent. I will motion for deletion on grounds of redundency. GGOTCC (talk) 20:31, 18 April 2025 (UTC)

:How about merging them with the battleship list? so it would be "List of battleships and battlecruisers of World War x", I think there's still interest on seeing what kind of "big guns-armed capital ship" that were in service during both wars, and it maybe useful to those that are unfamiliar with naval history. Jauhsekali (talk) 22:48, 20 April 2025 (UTC)

::That could be a good idea. Probably it should be brought up in the deletion discussions -- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of battlecruisers of World War I and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of battlecruisers of World War II. DeemDeem52 (talk) 14:35, 21 April 2025 (UTC)

:::The BC of WW1 and WW2 lists are currently nominated for deletion as both are just selections from the overall list of battlecruisers list. I do support these deletions as honestly they are just smaller versions of the main list and don’t really need to exist independently. Tylermack999 (talk) 15:45, 21 April 2025 (UTC)
