AntiSpamBot, warnings
I am writing into SquelchBot some customised warnings (next to the uw-spam templates) due to some issues that keep coming up. Currently the sentences in the warnings are (see Special:Contributions/SquelchBot, on the user talk pages):
- for media files, jpg, gif, png, mp3 etc. Think about imageshack and similar:
- If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. an image or a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to (see Linking to copyrighted works). Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file.
- for blog, forum, groups:
- If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum or similar site, then please check the information on the external site thorougly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creators copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), they are not written by a recognised, reliable source or contain original research. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest)..
I think it needs some tweaking, comments welcome (also, if there are other general types which require some explanation, I can add that as well). Thanks. --Dirk Beetstra T C 11:45, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Question about external link tool
Is there a way to get the [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ALinksearch&target=health.groups.yahoo.com external links tool] to only report links in the main article space? I'd be a lot more likely to add it to my daily routine if I could exclude user pages and talk pages. WhatamIdoing (talk) 19:36, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

http://spam.cashtomato.com
This page is too big
The HTML code of this page is currently 2.0 MiB, which takes some 7 seconds to load over my (I think fairly fast) 3 Mbps connection. Including the time for my browser to render the page, it's 15 seconds total page load time. Maybe items on this page could be autoarchived after just 5 days of inactivity or so?
Or - I'm not sure whether that is technically possible - some javascript code could be used to generate external links "on the fly" in a popup window or something, i.e., HTML output
Han-Kwang (t) 12:05, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
P.S. Submitting a section edit even takes ~30 seconds. At least, this page could be split into a spam reports page and a meta discussion about Wikiproject:spam, so that comments such as this one don't disappear in the sea of spam reports.
:I agree here - this page is nuts, I could heat my house with the electricity it takes to just load the page! Shouldn't the spam reports themselves be separated somewhere? I'm interested in the discussion aspect but that just gets lost in the endless flood of spam entries. Franamax (talk) 06:58, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
::It would help if we weren't spammed so much. MER-C 13:41, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
:::The problem may be that we're not getting reports cleared fast enough. Spam report rate > spam removal rate -- due to a shortage of cleanup volunteers. --A. B. (talk) 14:46, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
::::Ah, I thought the reports were here because they were cleaned up. I'd be glad to help but I have no idea what to do. I just checked two random reports above and the only outgoing links were from the warnings on the spammer talk pages, but they're not shown as resolved. And I can't tell from the Project page what to do, it looks more like a talk page.
:::: In any case, it would be nice if the spam reports were separate from talk such as this. It's painful to come to this page, since it makes my PC into a zombie, and it's difficult to watch discussions such as this one with all the reporting noise mixed in. Franamax (talk) 16:19, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
I would like to say a lot more about this topic, but can we please separate the spam reports from the general discussion about the Wikiproject? That means: move this page (and the archives) to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Spam/reports and keep Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Spam for general discussions such as this one? As far as I can see, there would be no problem with bots getting confused (the archival bot uses an on-page configuration), so if there are no objections, we could do that right away. Han-Kwang (t) 16:14, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
By the way, would anyone feel like commenting on Wikipedia talk:External links on my proposal to clarify the spam-related guidelines? I think that would actually reduce spam. Han-Kwang (t) 16:14, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
:That would make the report page long, and then we would not have this discussion here anyway. It would require also another bot (User:COIBot) to be reprogrammed (but that is not a big problem). --Dirk Beetstra T C 16:20, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
::Yes, but there are other topics related to spam fighting that could be discussed and this page is extremely unappealing to such discussions because of the page load time and the flood of other stuff. I agree with Franamax: it is not very clear to me what purpose this page exactly serves. I could think of all kinds of other things to make this page more browser-friendly, but I'd prefer to discuss that on a regular project talk page rather than this one where even just checking discussion updates freezes my browser for a while. Han-Kwang (t) 18:43, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
:Hmm, I agree, although we don't have too many of those issues. We could follow the same format as WP:COI, make a Wikipedia:WikiProject Spam/Noticeboard. Please warn me if we do, then I can adapt the bot(s) accordingly. --Dirk Beetstra T C 19:20, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
:suggestion, when someone clears a report and its blacklisted, bot listed, add a {{tl|resolved}} to the report and ill archive those in 24Hrs and everything else in 7 days. βcommand 23:53, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

[[IG Farben Building]]
A year or two ago I translated this article from de.wikipedia and buffed it up to FA status - very few english sources were available apart from Angelfire.com - there were plenty of German ones. Objections were raised during the FAC that the Angelfire website wasn't a particularly reliable source, being a personal website. However, I argued that the content on Angelfire was an accurate representation of the reliable German sources, but gave readers the opportunity to read about the building in another english source. I note IG Farben Building is now in one of your lists - does this mean anything? What will be happening to the contents of the list - should I remove the references to Angelfire from the article?
