Female scientists from third world countries

Jimbo likes the idea of paying editors to write about female scientists from third world countries.

Wiki Women in Red - a proposed User Group

Having worked for 2 years editing articles for Women In Red, a group of organizers have concluded that sourcing is one of the biggest hurdles in creating articles on women and non-binary genders. Though it is true that a lot of sourcing simply doesn’t exist, it is also true that there are sources, but we have no access to them. As these groups did not typically become subjects for academic study until the 1970s, many of the sources are not on line or are behind paywalls. Failure to include women and non-binary people in the encyclopedia presents a one-dimensional view of society and history. To address those issues, we are forming a new User Group aimed at referencing and support for like-minded groups and would appreciate your input or input from your supporters in our organizational process. Proposed deletion of :Jocelyn Scheirer

File:Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article :Jocelyn Scheirer has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG. No significant independent reliable sources providing in-depth coverage. Sources are mostly primary or trivial mentions.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the proposed deletion/dated notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing proposed deletion/dated will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Help illustrate climate change information on Wikipedia and win a signed copy of The Climate Book by Greta Thunberg

Dear all

I’m very happy to let you know we are running a competition at Wikiproject Climate Change to encourage people to help improve visual information about climate change including the role individual people play in it. The competition is open until the 17th of May for all language versions of Wikipedia. The top three point scorers will each win a signed copy of The Climate Book by Greta Thunberg.

Please let me know if you have any questions

Thanks :) John Cummings (talk) 17:02, 17 April 2025 (UTC)

Adding a page about a woman scientist

Hello! I’m a neuroscientist working on how the brain changes with motherhood. I’ve noticed that many women in science (including myself) are underrepresented on Wikipedia. I’ve tried to add a page about myself (following what has been written about a friend of mine, Dr Darby Saxbe) but I haven't had any luck getting it published. Thus, I'm requesting help in creating a page.

Here are a few articles and sources about my work:

- a link to my scientific publications: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/?term=pawluski&sort=date

- A link to my book which is published in French and English (https://www.amazon.com/Mommy-Brain-Discover-amazing-maternal/dp/1772584878)

- A link to my podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/fr/podcast/mommy-brain-revisited/id1512717675

I’d really appreciate any guidance or support with regards to this. I know that typically writing a page about yourself is not a good idea, but I have limited resources for this media coverage at my university (University of Rennes, France).

Thank you!

Angela Rasmussen

Would anyone here care to respond Talk:Angela Rasmussen#Significance?. Compliance with the notability test is being questioned. That takes it outside my competence. 𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 14:37, 6 May 2025 (UTC)

Florence Débarre

In my opinion, Florence Débarre should probably have a Wikipedia article. But the article has recently been nominated for deletion. ScienceFlyer (talk) 16:02, 17 May 2025 (UTC)

:ScienceFlyer It's not been nominated for deletion, it's been WP:PRODded. If you disagree with that, follow the directions at WP:DEPROD. But you may be called on to improve the article soon afterwards, otherwise it might then get nominated for deletion for real. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:30, 17 May 2025 (UTC)

::@Redrose64 Thank you. Débarre is French, so I wonder if there are non-English references. The same IP editor has proposed deletion of Alice Catherine Hughes. ScienceFlyer (talk) 20:00, 17 May 2025 (UTC)

:I added some more information (including the CNRS Bronze Medal) and unprodded both articles. My unprod rationales explained why I think they both pass WP:PROF but it is not uncommon for unprodded articles to be taken to AfD, so this may come up again soon. —David Eppstein (talk) 20:47, 17 May 2025 (UTC)

::As predicted, it's now an AFD ScienceFlyer (talk) 17:34, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
