The Willaston General Cemetery on Dawkins Avenue, Willaston, South Australia opened on 1 August 1866.{{Cite web|url=https://www.gawler.sa.gov.au/services/cemeteries|title=Cemetery Information|first=Town of|last=Gawler|date=23 September 2019|website=Town of Gawler Council}} to replace the original burial ground on Murray Street, Gawler, South Australia was made in the mid 1850s,{{cite news |url=http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article49897394 |title=Gawler |newspaper=South Australian Register |volume=XXIII |issue=3919 |location=South Australia |date=29 April 1859 |accessdate=21 March 2018 |page=3 |via=National Library of Australia}} with the headstones from the original cemetery moved to the entrance.
