General Sir William Henry Seymour {{postnominals|country=GBR|KCB}} (1829 – 20 June 1921) was a senior British Army officer.
Military career
Seymour was commissioned into the 68th Regiment of Foot in 1847.{{cite IBD1915|wstitle= Seymour, General Sir William Henry |volume= 20.3 |page= 390 |year=1915|short=1}} He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1852 without purchase.{{London Gazette|issue=6200|page=666|date=3 August 1852|city=e}} He saw action in the Crimean War in 1854 and was promoted to Captain in December of that year.{{London Gazette|issue=21645|page=4259|date=29 December 1854}} He transferred regiments to the 2nd Dragoon Guards in 1855 and served in the Indian Rebellion of 1857. There, he rose from Captain to Major,{{London Gazette|issue=22173|page=3788|date=13 August 1858}} and from Major to Lieutenant Colonel.{{London Gazette|issue=22183|page=4194|date=17 September 1858}}
Colonel Seymour then served as Inspector-General of Cavalry in Ireland from 1874 to 1879.
