The Wisconsin Flyway Conference is a high school athletic conference with its membership concentrated in east central Wisconsin. It was founded in 2006 and all members belong to the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association.

History

The Wisconsin Flyway Conference was formed in 2006, the result of a split of six schools from the East Central Flyway Conference (Horicon, Laconia, Lomira, Mayville, North Fond du Lac and St. Mary's Springs).{{Cite news |last=Casper Jr. |first=John |date=27 September 2005 |title=Area to face realignment issues |url=https://www.newspapers.com/image/248880166/?match=1&terms=%E2%80%9Ceast%2520central%2520flyway%2520conference%E2%80%9D%2520realignment |access-date=11 April 2025 |work=Oshkosh Northwestern |pages=D1}} These schools were previously in the conference's Rivers Division and were members of the original Flyway Conference before its merger with the East Central Conference. Kettle Moraine Lutheran in Jackson was the seventh original member of the Wisconsin Flyway Conference, having been displaced by the closing of the Parkland Conference the year prior.{{Cite news |date=13 January 2006 |title=WIAA realignment plan |url=https://www.newspapers.com/image/290717391/?match=1&terms=%22flyway%20conference%22%20realignment%20%22kettle%20moraine%20lutheran%22 |access-date=11 April 2025 |work=Appleton Post-Crescent |pages=22}} Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Fond du Lac joined as the conference's eighth member after the East Central Flyway was closed in 2007.{{Cite news |title=WIAA approves realignment plan |url=https://www.newspapers.com/image/364706944/?match=1&terms=%E2%80%9Ceast%2520central%2520flyway%2520conference%E2%80%9D%2520ending |access-date=11 April 2025 |work=Oshkosh Northwestern |pages=D2}} Omro's entry into the Wisconsin Flyway Conference from the Eastern Valley Conference in 2010 brought membership to its high of nine schools.{{Cite news |date=16 May 2009 |title=Omro approved for move to Wisconsin Flyway |url=https://www.newspapers.com/image/362731201/?match=1&terms=%22wisconsin%20flyway%20conference%22%20omro%20realignment |access-date=11 April 2025 |work=Oshkosh Northwestern |pages=B2}} This mark was to be short-lived, as Horicon left to join the Trailways Conference in 2012.{{Cite news |last=Kahl |first=Tom |date=17 November 2012 |title=Walking the plank |url=https://www.newspapers.com/image/685367230/?match=1&terms=%22trailways%20conference%22%20moves%20horicon |access-date=11 April 2025 |work=Portage Daily Register |pages=8}} The membership roster was further decreased to seven schools in 2015 when Kettle Moraine Lutheran became members of the reconstituted East Central Conference.{{Cite news |last=Clark |first=Steve |date=16 August 2015 |title=Conference Realignment Jumbles Area Prep Football Schedule |url=https://www.newspapers.com/image/123705721/?match=1&terms=%22east%20central%20conference%22 |access-date=11 April 2025 |work=Sheboygan Press |pages=A11}} In 2021, Campbellsport exited the East Central Conference to become the Wisconsin Flyway Conference's eighth member.{{Cite news |last=Rushin |first=Jerell |date=14 February 2020 |title=Campbellsport one step away from joining the Flyway |url=https://www.newspapers.com/image/637959480/?match=1&terms=%22east%20central%20conference%22%20realignment |access-date=11 April 2025 |work=Fond du Lac Reporter |pages=B1}} This figure will increase back to nine in 2025, as St. Lawrence Seminary will be joining as a full member after having previously been an associate member in multiple sports.
