Witter Springs (formerly Witter's Springs, Witter Medical Springs, and Witter){{sfn|Durham|1998|p=170}} is a set of springs that was turned into a resort in the 1870s in Lake County, California.{{sfn|Waring|1915|p=177}}

Location

Witter Springs is located {{convert|3|mi|km}} northwest of Upper Lake,{{sfn|Durham|1998|p=170}} at an elevation of {{convert|1476|ft|m}}.{{sfn|Witter Springs USGS}} It is on the west side of Bachelor Valley in the Scotts Creek watershed.{{sfn|Lundquist|2010|p=8}}

History

The Witter Springs resort opened soon after the springs were discovered in 1870.{{sfn|Lundquist|2010|p=8}}

The Witter's Springs post office operated from 1873 to 1880.{{sfn|Durham|1998|p=170}} The Witter post office opened in 1901, moved and changed its name to Witter Springs in 1913.{{sfn|Durham|1998|p=170}} Water from Witter Medical Springs was bottled and sold to the public circa 1909.{{sfn|Sanford|1911|pp=870–871}} The ZIP code for Witter Springs is 95493.
