He gained popularity in dance music and was known for 'fusing electronic elements with tropical rhythms'.{{Cite news|url=http://stoneyroads.com/2015/10/wiwek-debuts-new-mix-on-musical-freedom-radio|title=Wiwek Debuts New Mix on Musical Freedom Radio|last=Marro|first=Ashley|date=30 October 2015|newspaper=Stoney Roads|access-date=2016-12-10}} He is regarded as the "Godfather of jungle terror".{{Cite web|url=http://themusic.com.au/news/all/2015/02/27/dutch-producer-wiwek-announces-debut-australian-tour/|title=Dutch Producer Wiwek Announces Debut Australian Tour|website=TheMusic|language=en-GB|access-date=2016-12-10}}
