The top title at the event is Certificat d'Aptitude au Championnat International de Beauté (French for 'Certificate of Aptitude at the International Championship of Beauty'), abbreviated CACIB, for which only purebred specimens of fully recognised, standardised breeds, not provisionally recognised or experimental breeds, may qualify. Some people feel that a win at the World Dog Show is worth more, reputation-wise, than the same win at the Westminster Kennel Club show.{{cite book|author=Alfred Gingold|title=Dog World: And the Humans Who Live There|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=ILHu81VHrGcC&pg=PA162|accessdate=22 June 2013|date=8 February 2005|publisher=Crown Publishing Group|isbn=978-0-7679-2021-6|page=162}} Entries in the World Show are from Fédération Cynologique Internationale member clubs, and non-member clubs (such as the American Kennel Club) by invitation.{{cite web | url=http://classic.akc.org/events/conformation/world_show/2007/index.cfm | title=Mexico World Dog Show 2007 | accessdate=2013-06-22}}
