The XGC88000 crawler crane is a class of extremely large ultraheavy crawler crane made by XCMG. With a lifting capacity of 3,600{{cite web|url=https://cranepedia.com/spec/crawler-crane/xcmg-xgc88000/|title=XCMG XGC88000 Crawler Crane|website=Cranepedia}} to 4,000 tons,{{cite web|url=https://vertikal.net/en/videos/clip/122/xcmg-xgc88000-crawler-crane|title=XCMG XGC88000 Crawler Crane|website=Vertikal}} a total boom length of 144 meters and a total gross weight of 5,350 tons. The XGC88000 crawler crane became the largest tracked mobile crane in the world,{{cite web|url=https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/xcmg-and-sinopec-strengthen-partnership-to-bring-star-crawler-cranes-1029633009|title=XCMG and Sinopec Strengthen Partnership to Bring Star Crawler Cranes|website=Business Insider}}{{cite web|url=https://www.asiaone.com/business/crane-capacity-record-breaker-xcmg-crawler-crane-xgc88000-completes-installation-2600-ton|title=Crane Capacity Record Breaker: XCMG Crawler Crane XGC88000 Completes Installation of 2600-ton Hydrogenation Reactor in China 10 Days Ahead of Schedule|website=Asia One|date=15 April 2021 }}{{cite web|url=https://www.craneandhoistcanada.com/xcmg-claims-world-lifting-record-with-2600-ton-hoist-in-china/|title=XCMG claims world lifting record with 2,600-ton hoist in China|website=Crane and Hoist Canada|date=28 April 2021 }} beating out the previous record holder, the Liebherr LR 13000 when it officially came into production in 2013. However, when it comes to absolute size, movability, and strength, the title still goes to the Honghai Crane which runs on rails.
It is also one of the largest ground vehicles in current operation, and - by its official production in 2013 - became the largest self-propelled ground vehicle by gross size, beating out the NASA crawler-transporters.
Design specifications
The XGC88000 crawler crane, unlike the majority of crawler cranes, comes in two sections. The primary section consists of the crane itself, which boasts a maximum boom length of 144 meters, a maximum total length of 173 meters (including the counterweight radius), a maximum height (when fully erect) of 108 meters, a lifting capacity ranging between 3,600 and 4,000 tons{{cite web|url=https://www.hydrocarbonengineering.com/petrochemicals/28102019/sinopec-exhibits-new-crane-technology-with-washing-tower-lift/|title=Sinopec exhibits new crane technology with washing tower lift|website=Hydrocarbon Engineering|date=28 October 2019 }}{{cite web|url=https://www.omanobserver.om/article/14628/Business/worlds-largest-crawler-crane-in-action-at-duqm-refinery-site|title=World's largest crawler crane in action at Duqm Refinery site|website=Oman Observer|date=18 March 2020 }}{{cite web|url=https://vertikal.net/en/news/story/35454/xgc88000-sets-new-record|title=XGC88000 sets new record|website=Vertikal}} (although it managed to lift a maximum overload of 4,500 tons{{Cite web|url=https://www.khl.com/news/xcmgs-4000-tonne-class-crawler-record/81763.article|title=XCMG's 4,000 tonne class crawler record |date=3 January 2013 }}), and a maximum lifting momentum of 88,000 ton-meter.{{cite web|url=https://www.nsenergybusiness.com/news/sinopec-builds-the-largest-crawler-crane-in-saudi-arabia/|title=Sinopec builds the largest crawler crane in Saudi Arabia|website=NS Energy}}
The vehicle itself is powered by three {{cvt|641|kW|adj=on}} U.S. Cummins engine units outputting a total power of {{cvt|1923|kW}}. Each power unit could act as a mobile hydraulic power working station. Moreover, they can also work as an additional power source during the crane assembly/disassembly process to improve assembly efficiency, as well as act as an additional spare unit for each other. The crane driver sits in a large spacious cabin the size of a large office room.{{cite web|url=https://twitter.com/PrezXi/status/1635417824389918720|title=Augustus Twitter XCMG XGC88000 Crawler Crane|website=Twitter}} The cabin has an airconditioner, a seat, and a small sofa to accommodate three additional passengers.
The second section is a separate tracked compartment which essentially holds the crane's counterweight in total. The counterweight has a total height of 9.7 meters, a total length of 29 meters and a weight of 2,900 tons.{{cite web|url=https://machmall.en.made-in-china.com/product/BeLEcRCjCrlP/China-XCMG-Official-Xgc88000-Crawler-Crane-Price-for-Sale.html|title=XCMG Official Xgc88000 Crawler Crane Price for Sale|website=Made-in-China}} The compartment houses its own driver's cockpit that can be independently driven and requires a working radius of 29 meters. The maximum weight of the vehicle clocks in at nearly 5,400 tons in weight.{{cite web|url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-r7J8DSNIys&t=2s|title=XCMG XGC88000 Crawler Crane|website=Finbond Heavy Machinery Sdn Bhd}}
