XO-5 is a likely binary star system, made up of a G-type dwarf and a red dwarf companion, located approximately 893 light-years away from Earth in the Lynx constellation. It has a magnitude of about 12 and cannot be seen with the naked eye but is visible through a small telescope.

XO-5 has a suspected red dwarf companion with a temperature of 3500{{±|250|150}} K, on a wide orbit.{{citation|arxiv=1510.08062|year=2015|doi=10.1088/0004-637X/814/2/148|last1=Piskorz|first1=Danielle|last2=Knutson|first2=Heather A.|last3=Ngo|first3=Henry|last4=Muirhead|first4=Philip S.|last5=Batygin|first5=Konstantin|last6=Crepp|first6=Justin R.|last7=Hinkley|first7=Sasha|last8=Morton|first8=Timothy D.|title=Friends of Hot Jupiters. The star XO-5 is named Absolutno. The name was selected in the NameExoWorlds campaign by the Czech Republic, during the 100th anniversary of the IAU. Absolutno is a fictional miraculous substance in the Czech sci-fi novel Továrna na absolutno (The Factory for the Absolute).{{Cite web|url=http://www.nameexoworlds.iau.org/final-results|title=Approved names|website=NameExoworlds|language=en|access-date=2020-01-02}}{{Cite web|url=https://www.iau.org/news/pressreleases/detail/iau1912/|title=International Astronomical Union {{!}} IAU|website=www.iau.org|access-date=2020-01-02}}
