Description

The thallus is foliose and can grow up to {{convert|10|cm|in|abbr=on|0}} in diameter. The upper surface of the thallus is yellowish-green to grayish-green in color, while the lower surface is black. The lichen produces {{lichengloss|apothecia}}, which are small, cup-shaped structures that contain the reproductive parts of the lichen. The apothecia are typically dark brown in color and can reach up to {{convert|5|mm|in|abbr=on|1}} in diameter.{{Cite journal |last1=Barcenas-Peña |first1=Alejandrina |last2=Leavitt |first2=Steven D. |last3=Grewe |first3=Felix |last4=Lumbsch |first4=H.
