An account of a recent collection of bathybial fishes from the Bay of Bengal and from the Laccadive Sea. Journal of the Asiatic Society of Bengal v. 63 (pt 2): 115-137, Pls. 6-7. It is a marine, deep water-dwelling eel which is known from Maldives and Laccadives, in the western Indian Ocean. Due to the limited number of specimens from which the species is known, the IUCN redlist currently lists X. trucidans as Data Deficient.
