Development

YJ-6 is China's first air-launched anti-ship missile in large-scale service. It was developed from the land-based HY-2 missile with a more compact airframe for aircraft carriage and a newer active-radar seeker. The missile used liquid fuel and a large warhead inherited from HY-2. It entered service in 1986.{{cite web|url=https://news.sina.cn/2020-04-13/detail-iircuyvh7438895.d.html |title=“中国飞鱼”是法国“飞鱼”的仿制品吗? |website=Sina News |date=12 April 2020 }}{{cite web|url=https://mil.sina.cn/zm/2021-02-03/detail-ikftssap2591536.d.html |title=轰6轰炸机仅有的实战 就差点击沉美军宙斯盾巡洋舰 |website=Sina News |date=3 February 2021 }}
