Yanacocha (possibly from Quechua yana black, very dark, qucha lake, lagoon,{{Ref Laime}} "black lake") is a lake in Peru located in Huaylllabamba District, Urubamba Province, Cusco Region.escale.minedu.gob.pe - UGEL map of the Urubamba Province (Cusco Region)[http://www.mincetur.gob.pe/TURISMO/OTROS/inventario%20turistico/Ficha.asp?cod_Ficha=2223 mincetur.gob.pe] "Laguna de Yanacocha" (in Spanish) It is about {{convert|14|m|ft|abbr=on}} deep and {{convert|240|m|ft|abbr=on}} long and it is situated at a height of about {{convert|3951|m|ft|0}}. Yanacocha as well as the nearby lakes named Chaquicocha and Kellococha (Quechua for "yellow lake") is known for its woods of polylepis.
