Yasuko Onuki (often known simply as Yako, Yasuko or Yasuko O.{{discogs artist}}) is the singer from Japanese band Melt-Banana,{{AllMusic | class = artist | id = p200036 | tab = biography | label = Biography of Melt Banana | first = Ben | last = Tausig | access-date = 2012-05-11 }} which she founded in 1991.{{cite web | url = http://www.skingraftrecords.com/bandhtmlpages/meltban.html | title = MELT-BANANA Band Page | publisher = Skingraft Records }} She has a frantic chirping and yelping vocal style{{cite web | url = http://www.sonic.net/~goblin/chih.html |title = Melt-Banana | publisher = Sonic.net }} which is an important part of Melt-Banana's unique sound. She writes all of Melt-Banana's lyrics, which she sings in English, stating that:
